Season 2 began as a conversation about healing.

What I didnโ€™t expect was how often the conversation would lead us back to survival.

Throughout this season of The Grow Through It Podcast, weโ€™ve explored workplace culture, trauma, self-abandonment, authenticity, relationships, identity, emotional labor, and the environments that shape us. Again and again, one truth kept emerging: many of us are navigating systems and circumstances that make it difficult to stay connected to ourselves.

In this season finale, Iโ€™m reflecting on the biggest lessons from Season 2 and the themes that continued to surface across episodes, guests, and conversations with listeners.

    Together, weโ€™ll explore:

    ๐ŸŽ™๏ธHow survival changes people

๐ŸŽ™๏ธWhy healing isnโ€™t just an individual responsibility

๐ŸŽ™๏ธThe discomfort that often accompanies growth

๐ŸŽ™๏ธWhat it means to reconnect to aliveness in a world that often rewards functioning over flourishing

Weโ€™ll also talk about the role of systems, environments, relationships, and community in shaping our experiences, and why I believe healing requires us to look beyond ourselves without losing connection to ourselves.

One thing Iโ€™ve learned this season is that healing is not simply about understanding our wounds. Itโ€™s also about examining the conditions that created them, the adaptations that helped us survive, and the practices that help us come alive again.

As we close Season 2 and look ahead to Season 3, I want to hear from you:

What conversation impacted you most this season?

    And perhaps more importantlyโ€ฆ

What are you currently growing through?

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Letโ€™s keep growing through it together.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

What happens when your nervous system adapts to surviving workplace culture instead of living fully within it?

In this episode of Grow Through It Podcast, Ina Camille explores the hidden emotional and physiological cost of navigating chronic stress, emotional labor, hypervigilance, burnout, and survival mode in workplace environments, especially for Black women and marginalized communities.

    This conversation dives into:

    • how the nervous system responds to emotionally unsafe environments
    • the difference between emotional maturity and emotional capacity
    • survival adaptations like perfectionism, over-functioning, and emotional suppression
    • the impact of chronic workplace stress on relationships, identity, and self-connection
    • why healing must remain systems-aware and not purely individualistic

Through psychoeducation, storytelling, and trauma-conscious insight, this episode invites listeners to move away from shame and toward deeper self-understanding.

Because sometimes your exhaustion is not personal failure.
Sometimes itโ€™s what happens when your body has been carrying too much for too long.

Why does doing the โ€œrightโ€ thing sometimes feel so wrong?

In this episode, weโ€™re unpacking a frustrating and often confusing part of personal growth: the discomfort that comes with change. If youโ€™ve ever set a boundary and immediately felt guiltyโ€ฆ chosen rest and questioned your worthโ€ฆ or started showing up differently and wondered if youโ€™re doing something wrong, this conversation is for you.

Weโ€™ll explore the psychology behind why growth can feel unsafe at first, how your nervous system responds to unfamiliar patterns, and why discomfort isnโ€™t always a sign to stop. More often, itโ€™s a sign that youโ€™re stepping outside of whatโ€™s familiar and into something new.

    This episode will help you:
โ€ข Understand why your brain resists change, even positive change
โ€ข Recognize the difference between something being unsafe vs. unfamiliar
โ€ข Stay grounded in moments when growth feels uncomfortable
โ€ข Begin building trust with yourself as you evolve

If youโ€™ve been in that in-between space, where you know youโ€™re growing, but it doesnโ€™t feel good yet, youโ€™re not alone. And more importantly, youโ€™re not doing it wrong.

Tune in and learn how to move through the discomfort of growth without abandoning yourself in the process.

What happens when the world around you shapes how you see yourself?
In this episode, weโ€™re having a real and honest conversation about identity, marginalization, and the internal impact of navigating spaces where you donโ€™t always feel fully seen, understood, or accepted.
Our guest shares his experience growing up between identities with a white father and Black mother, and how experiences of racism, isolation, and not fully belonging led to struggles with self-perception and self-worth. But this conversation goes beyond what heโ€™s been through. We explore what it takes to make meaning of those experiences, to unlearn internalized narratives, and to begin the process of self-acceptance.
We also talk about the realities that extend beyond positive thinking; acknowledging the weight of intergenerational trauma and how it continues to influence how we move through the world, especially for African-Americans.
This episode is for anyone who has ever questioned where they belong, struggled with how they see themselves, or is learning how to grow through experiences that shaped them.
This is a conversation about truth, identity, and what it really means to grow through what we go through.

How often are you abandoning yourselfโ€ฆ without even realizing it?

Self-abandonment isnโ€™t always loud or obvious. It doesnโ€™t always look like walking away from your dreams or completely losing yourself. Sometimes, itโ€™s much more subtle. Itโ€™s saying yes when you want to say no. Itโ€™s prioritizing everyone elseโ€™s needs over your own. Itโ€™s chasing validation, approval, or success while feeling disconnected, unfulfilled, or unsure of who you really are.

In this episode, weโ€™re unpacking sneaky self-abandonment, the hidden ways we outsource our power, silence our needs, and live according to expectations instead of truth. Youโ€™ll learn why these patterns develop, how they show up in your everyday life, and most importantly, how to start reclaiming yourself in small, meaningful ways.

This is your invitation to pause, reflect, and begin choosing yourself again.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • โ€‹What self-abandonment really is (and why itโ€™s often hard to recognize)
    • โ€‹The psychological patterns behind people-pleasing and external validation
    • โ€‹Real-life examples of sneaky self-abandonment
    • โ€‹Simple, practical ways to reconnect with yourself

    Call to Action:

This week, notice one moment where you might be abandoning yourself. Pause, check in, and choose differently, even in a small way.

If this resonates, share this episode with someone who needs this reminder, and take a moment to ask yourself: Where am I ready to choose me?

What does it really mean to be an empath or a highly sensitive person, and how do you care for yourself in a world that often feels overwhelming?
In this episode, Iโ€™m joined by a self-care coach to explore the lived experiences of empaths and highly sensitive people (HSPs). We unpack the differences and overlaps between these identities, why so many people are beginning to resonate with these terms, and how understanding yourself on this level can be both validating and transformative.
We also talk about why self-care isnโ€™t one-size-fits-all. For people who feel deeply, traditional approaches to self-care may fall short. This conversation offers a more personalized lens, one that considers your nervous system, your emotional depth, and your need for boundaries that actually protect your energy.
    Together, we explore:
โ€ข How to identify whether you may be an empath or highly sensitive
โ€ข The strengths and challenges of sensitivity in the workplace
โ€ข How these traits show up in romantic relationships
โ€ข Practical ways to build healthier boundaries
โ€ข Why your sensitivity may be one of your greatest strengths

We hear it all the time: Live fully. Donโ€™t settle. Chase happiness.

But what does that actually mean?

In this episode, I explore the quiet tension many of us feel between excitement and contentment. The moments when life is good, stable even, but we still find ourselves wondering if something is missing.

Drawing on insights from psychology and nervous system science, including work by Edward Deci, Richard Ryan, and Dan Siegel, this episode explores why the constant pursuit of intensity may actually keep us from experiencing fullness.

    We talk about:

    • Why excitement fades (and why thatโ€™s normal)

    • The difference between intensity and depth

    • How our nervous systems can mistake calm for something being wrong

    • What psychological research says actually sustains well-being

    • Why living fully might require presence more than reinvention

This conversation is an invitation to slow down and ask a different question:

Instead of โ€œIs this exciting enough?โ€

    What if we askedโ€ฆ โ€œAm I present here?โ€

If youโ€™ve ever wondered whether youโ€™re settling or simply learning to inhabit your life more deeply, this episode is for you.

What happens when your life as you know it collapses โ€” publicly, suddenly, and without warning?

In this episode, I sit down with a woman who experienced a very visible scandal that cost her career, community, and sense of stability in midlife. She identifies as queer and had to rebuild not just her life, but her identity, in full view of the world.

We explore the heart lessons that emerged from this rupture: how accountability, clarity, and courage can transform loss into growth; how maturity is earned through reckoning; and how alignment comes from embracing who you truly are, even when everything familiar falls away.

If youโ€™ve ever faced a season of upheaval or found yourself starting over unexpectedly, this conversation is for you.
