  • Who Will the Washington Commanders Take in the NFL Draft and Speculating on Alex Ovechkin's Future
    Apr 22 2026

Coming of a 5-12 season in 2025 — but only two seasons removed from an NFC Championship appearance — the Washington Commanders have a specific position of need on each side of the ball in this year's NFL Draft.

With only six picks to work with, sports reporter Liam Griffin joins George Gerbo to narrow down who the Commanders could target with the seventh overall pick in the first round — with a focus on edge rushers as well as a wide receiver to line up opposite veteran Terry McLaurin — while also identifying potential targets for Washington in rounds 3-7.

The two also discuss the future of Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin's playing career after the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer sent mixed signals over the last month about whether or not he will return for a 22nd season.

  • Previewing the Masters with Keswick Hall's Rob McNamara
    Apr 7 2026

The tradition unlike any other is back. It's Masters week — the equivalent of Christmas, the Super Bowl and any other favorite holiday all rolled into one for those who love the game of golf.

On this edition of District of Sports, George Gerbo is joined by Keswick Hall Director of Golf and Club General Manager Rob McNamara to discuss his experiences of playing Augusta National, who and what to watch for in this year's tournament, and how close Rob came to playing in the tournament himself during his career.

George and Rob also discuss the recent LPGA Tour victory by Virginia native and Keswick Hall official touring pro Lauren Coughlin as well as improvements made to the resort's Pete Dye-designed Full Cry golf course.

  • DC Defenders Head Coach Shannon Harris on winning the UFL Championship, the synergy between his two coaching roles, and his team's chances for a repeat
    Feb 9 2026

On this edition of District of Sports, DC Defenders head coach Shannon Harris joins The Washington Times' George Gerbo to take us though his whirlwind year — from being named interim coach just a week before the season started last March, to leading the Defenders to their first UFL Championship, how he manages his role in Washington with also being the offensive coordinator at Tennessee State, and how the Defenders' 25 returning players set them up nicely for a chance at repeating this spring.

The Defenders season begins March 28 at St. Louis, with the home opener at Audi Field two weeks later on April 11, one of five games in the District this spring.
