  • 054. Marcus Ericsson - 97 F1 Races. Nothing Prepared Him for IndyCar | Marcus Ericsson | Indy 500 Champion
    Apr 21 2026

Marcus Ericsson is a former Formula 1 driver (2014 - 2018) for Caterham F1 (2014) and Sauber F1 (2015 - 2018) and current IndyCar driver for Andretti Global. He drove 97 Formula 1 Grand Prix without a single realistic shot at winning. He was replaced by Kimi Raikkonen, written off, and quietly pointed toward the exit. Then he went to IndyCar - and won the 2022 Indy 500, entering a club of fewer than 80 people in history.

This conversation is one for the books. From calling 100 companies at 15 years old just to scrape together enough money to go karting, to the DRS malfunction that sent him tumbling at 323 km/h down the Monza straight. From what it physically feels like to take Copse Corner at 5Gs, to the final three laps of the 2022 Indy 500 with Pato O'Ward right on his gearbox.

Marcus also breaks down the real difference between the F1 and IndyCar paddock cultures, why Drive to Survive fabricated the story of his final season at Sauber, what being team-mates with Charles Leclerc in his rookie year was actually like, and why he believes mental strength matters more than anything you can do in a gym.

He's got a chip on his shoulder going into 2026 and he's not hiding it. This is about as honest as a racing driver gets.

  • 053. Emma McCabe - She Made €131,000 From One Instagram Reel
    Apr 9 2026

Emma McCabe is a business, mindset and personal branding coach from Ireland who turned a string of rock-bottom moments into a blueprint most people only dream about. She dropped out of college in her final year, went broke twice, moved to Bali with next to nothing on two separate occasions, and built a multi-six figure coaching business entirely from her personal brand. She grew her Instagram from zero to 60,000 followers in under six months and generated €131,000 from a single reel. She is also the co-founder of Ireland's 1% Movement Hub - a community built for driven entrepreneurs who want location freedom, a magnetic personal brand, and the sales skills to match.

In this conversation, Emma and I go deep on the mindset shifts that separate people who build real businesses from those who simply stay stuck. We cover the Law of Polarity and why polarising people is actually the point, the concept of "stop thinking poor" and how identity shapes income, the Ikigai framework for finding your purpose, and why copying what works on social media is the fastest way to build a brand that goes nowhere. This one is a personal branding masterclass.

  • 052. James Hinchcliffe - From Getting Impaled In IndyCar To Driving An F1 Car
    Feb 26 2026
James Hinchcliffe is a Canadian former IndyCar race winner, 2016 Indianapolis 500 pole sitter, and current Formula 1 TV analyst and commentator. In 2015, James survived a near-fatal crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during a Indy 500 practice run that left him impaled and bleeding out - only to return to racing four months later. In 2025, he became one of the very few drivers in history to have driven both an IndyCar and a Formula 1 car, testing for Haas F1 at Mugello. In this episode, James breaks down what 230mph actually feels like inside your body, the mental strategies that allowed him to return to racing after being told he almost died, the physical brutality of driving without power steering at 5G, and what it's really like to drive a Formula 1 car compared to an IndyCar. We also dive into the 2026 regulation changes for both Formula 1 and IndyCar series, his predictions for who will win the championships, and the one decision that saved his life. This is a raw, technical, and deeply human conversation about resilience, elite performance, and what it takes to push beyond fear.TIMESTAMPS00:00 — Trailer01:51 — What 230mph Feels Like Inside Your Body04:37 — IndyCar G-Forces: Your Organs Move Inside You07:05 — No Power Steering at 240mph10:47 — Racing Drivers Are Wired Like Fighter Pilots12:08 — The Margin For Error at Indy14:28 — Road Course vs Oval Sensitivity19:08 — Why The Indy 500 Is Different24:13 — The Aura of Indianapolis Motor Speedway27:55 — How Athletes Eliminate Noise30:13 — You're Either Born With It or Not31:42 — Do You Feel Fear at 230mph?36:08 — The 2015 Crash Explained (Interactive)38:28 — I Got Impaled By My Own Car40:55 — 1000 Things Had To Go Right43:44 — When I Learned How Close It Was45:48 — Why I Convinced Myself It Was Just a Car Accident49:24 — Getting Back In The Car 4 Months Later52:16 — How I Compartmentalized The Trauma57:24 — Taking Pole Position One Year After The Crash59:06 — Indy 500 Qualifying: The Scariest Thing We Do01:04:37 — Racing Is About People Not Cars01:07:41 — How The Haas Formula 1 Drive Happened01:13:07 — Getting A Custom F1 Helmet Made01:18:41 — What Driving A Formula 1 Car Actually Feels Like01:21:35 — Wet vs Dry F1 Tires: The Braking Was Shocking01:25:48 — Like The Hand of God Pressing The Car Down01:28:00 — Why F1 2026 Regulations Might Actually Work01:32:20 — IndyCar vs Formula 1: The Real Difference01:38:00 — 2026 IndyCar Season Predictions01:42:20 — 2026 Formula 1 Championship Predictions01:45:44 — If I Could Race One More Time01:46:56 — Was Racing About Winning or Discovery?Follow James Hinchcliffe:Instagram: @hinchtownHis podcast: Off Track with Hinch and RossiFollow me:My motorsports Instagram: @sachthef1guyMotorsports Youtube channel: @sachthef1guyDecoding Wisdom Instagram: @decodingwisdomMy Instagram: @sachthepodcasterEmail: sachin@decodingwisdom.comWatch IndyCar on FOXWatch Formula 1 on F1 TV*Disclaimer: The views, opinions, and thoughts expressed in this podcast are my own and do not represent those of any employer, organization or affiliate.
