Sweden, 1930

Two years ago, Dr. Ainsley Graham proved the existence of ghosts, and fell in love - hard to top that. But a trip to Sweden to research at a prestigious university for the summer is nothing to sneeze at, especially since his partner, psychologist Joachim Cockburn, will be teaching alongside him. I usually love this narrator but his Swedish accents were really quite terrible. Unlike the other review I finished it but that was more from stubbornness than enjoying it

I loved the first one. Steamy and wonderful. Just the right amount of supernatural. This one is less steamy and a little too much into the supernatural.

I enjoyed this instalment, but not as much as the first one. Good to see the development in the relationship, however the inevitable ‘miscommunication’/‘misunderstanding’ trope felt really quite forced in this one. Ainsley flew off the handle a bit quick and Joachim didn’t try to explain at all really. But we got to move forward and imagine Cockburn in a toga, so that was nice.

3.5 overall. Good to spend more time with the boys.

Sorry to say, I had to dnf this audio with 4.5 hrs left to go. While I generally enjoy Cornell Collins narration, he made a huge misjudgement with this book. There were lots of Swedish characters in the book, and the narrator didn't just over egg his accents, he parodied the Swedish accents to the extent they distracted from the story. The Swedish accents were so awful - going from Muppet Show Chef, to Dolmio Italian. I lost track of who was whom and what was going on so many times that listening ceased to be the pleasure it was supposed to be. I enjoyed the first book very much, so I'll just buy the ebook instead.
