About this listen

A gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of Lie With Me and Dead Heat.

It's true what they say: one moment can change your life completely.
I found a woman's body on the common.
I touched her; that was all.
But now the police won't leave me alone.
Because all the evidence is leading to me.
And I don't know who I can trust...

Gaby Mortimer thought she had a perfect life: a high-powered job, loving husband, beautiful daughter. But then early one morning she discovers the body of a murdered woman - a woman who looks like her, and seems to be wearing her clothes...

Critic reviews

Will keep you gripped and guessing till the very end. Is it - dare we say - the new Gone Girl?
An emotionally tense sprint of a read...I was left breathless at the end (Penny Hancock, author of Tideline)
Twisty and unputdownable
Packed with suspense from the offset... guaranteed to keep you guessing right until the very end
More twists than a rollercoaster
A twisty, clever murder story, peppered with suspicious characters and topped with a satisfyingly unexpected ending. (Alex Marwood, author of The Wicked Girls)
This has all the authority of the best novels by Nicci French
Pacy, clever and gripping
Delectably twisted
Twists and turns through a beautifully controlled plot, hiding nothing yet constantly springing surprises
Stunning
Sabine Durrant writes beautifully and with such a light touch that the twists were truly shocking (Jane Casey, author of The Missing)
Reminiscent of Nicci French and Rosamund Lupton, Sabine Durrant's UNDER YOUR SKIN is utterly gripping. I devoured it in one weekend, ignoring the phone, the door, even my husband and kids (Hannah Richell, author of Secrets of the Tides)
I was hooked from the gruesome discovery to the last page with its unpredictable but brilliantly satisfying conclusion... I don't often say this about a book, but I thought it was perfect in every way.
UNDER YOUR SKIN rapidly unravels into a maelstrom of tension and paranoia, as Durrant draws a disturbing picture of how easy it is for even the most perfect life to implode... if the mark of a good thriller is the compulsion to reread it immediately on finishing, to see if the clues can be spotted second time round, then UNDER YOUR SKIN has it, in spades
An emotionally tense sprint of a read...I was left breathless at the end
Durrant's fluid, easy style and deliciously detailed characterisations keep you glued to the page. A twisty, clever murder story, peppered with suspicious characters and topped with a satisfyingly unexpected ending.
Sabine Durrant writes beautifully and with such a light touch that the twists were truly shocking
I was hooked from the gruesome discovery to the last page with its unpredictable but brilliantly satisfying conclusion... I don't often say this about a book, but I thought it was perfect in every way.

This was a great listen. A Fern Britton TV type is jogging one morning when she stumbles across a dead female body. Already at risk of losing her job to a younger presenter, she has to take time off work as the police investigate the case and then suspect her.

You never quite know who is a baddie and where your sympathies should lie.

What did you like best about Under Your Skin? What did you like least?

The story was a good basic thriller. However ,, I hated the inconsistency of the style- one moment tongue in cheek and self-deprecating, the next deadly serious.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Favourite character was the male lead

What three words best describe Tracy-Ann Oberman’s voice?

More suited to comedy than tragedy. A little strident at times

If this book were a film would you go see it?

Any additional comments?

It was really hard work -did not enjoy it at all

Read like a first novel

Good book and a really good narrative. Enjoy listening to it, I sometimes feel that the narrator makes the book and in this case she did. Loved the twist at the end and that's all I'm saying..Read it.

Really good

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to anybody!

What other book might you compare Under Your Skin to, and why?

I would favourably compare this book to anything by Patricia Highsmith, - in that the book doesn't always go in the direction you expect and twists and turns! I read a lot of 'crime' novels and tend to think that I can spot all kinds of red herrings/endings/outcomes but this book managed to surprise me.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely loved the narration by Tracy-Ann Oberman, it was more of a one-woman shows than a narration, and will be looking out for anything else that she narrates.

Loved this!
