About this listen

The perfect combination of angst, romance and spice, and full of intensity and emotion in this second-chance ice hockey romance, featuring two characters who can't seem to let go of their first love...

Paloma Blake is, at best, antagonistic. But beneath the hairspray, attitude, and promiscuity is a scared girl whose trauma runs deep. Still, the walls she's built are strong, ensuring everyone only sees Paloma's sexy façade. Everyone except for Bennett.

Bennett Reiner, the carefully controlled, neurodivergent goalie, has his routines and sticks to them, which helps him keep a hold on his OCD compulsions and the crippling anxiety that comes with them. The quiet and meticulous Bennett sees everything, especially the girl beneath Paloma's ever-present masks. And he always has.

Unbeknownst to their friends, Bennett and Paloma were each other's first real love, which ended in crippling heartbreak. Bennett still doesn't know what happened, and Paloma is determined to stay away from the comfort she used to find only in his arms. For years, Bennett has remained her protective shadow, coming to Paloma's rescue whenever she asked, keeping her as close and safe as she'll let him. But, like a tumultuous sea to a constant shore, Bennett and Paloma find each other once more.

Alternating between scenes from their past and present, Unbound contrasts the tentative tension and passionate beginnings of first love with the devastating loneliness and deep yearning of having that love ripped away from you without truly knowing why. As Bennett discovers the truth about Paloma's past, the threads to his careful control start to come unbound, and both begin to realize that letting go of everything else might be worth it, if it means they both get the real love they once shared again.

Elena Armas thinks Peyton's previous writing is 'earnest, raw and sexy', Bal Khabra has described it has 'heartache wrapped in a happy ending', and real readers are OBSESSED with her previous books too...

Critic reviews

Peyton Corinne is one of my favorite new voices in romance. Unbound is another tenderly crafted, angsty coming-of-age story, polished off with a well-earned happily ever after I believe in. (Tarah DeWitt, USA Today bestselling author of Left of Forever)
Devastating and romantic. Corinne stuns with unparalleled story-telling. Unbound takes you through the quiet pull of two souls finding their way back to each other. (Bal Khabra, USA Today bestselling author)
Unbound is one of the most devastating and healing second chance romances I've ever read. Peyton Corinne writes with a rare emotional precision...honoring trauma, love, and the slow, imperfect work of recovery without ever rushing it. Paloma and Bennett's journey back to each other is raw, messy, and breathtakingly earned, built on patience, devotion, and the quiet courage it takes to keep choosing someone. This book doesn't promise that love fixes everything but instead, shows how the right love can make surviving feel possible. Utterly unforgettable! (Chip Pons)
Peyton Corrine is the QUEEN of angsty romance! Unbound is emotional, tender, and sexy as hell, with two people at the heart of it who are undoubtedly meant for each other. Bennett made yearning his full-time job-I'm talking scream-into-your-pillow, curl-up-in-a-ball levels of astronomical longing to the point of pain (in the very best way). As usual, Corinne handles the book's heavier themes with beautiful care, reminding us that we all deserve a soft, ocean-deep love. (USA Today bestselling author Jessica Joyce)
Unbound is a richly emotional, utterly devastating, and deeply sexy hockey romance that hooks you from the very first page. Corinne crafts Bennet and Paloma expertly, making for complex, genuine characters with layers upon layers that are a pleasure to sift through. Graceful, honest, and filled with warmth-- to say I couldn't put this book down would be a grave understatement. (Kate Golden, USA Today bestselling author of If Not For My Baby)

Rip my heart out why don’t you. This one destroyed my heart in so many different ways. But especially for Paloma 😭 her past and trauma, please if you have triggers read the CW.

I felt so many damn feeling throughout this book. I related to Bennett and I felt for him. His strained relationship with his mom and the reasons for it made me so mad. There’s so much depth to this story and the slow unravel of all the pieces of the past was done in a way that made it so hard to put the book down.

Bennett and Paloma, god they were so young and inexperienced in relationships. It hurt watching them circle each other knowing that they still loved one another. I loved their story no matter how painful it was, because they are beautiful and healing together.

I read this in tandem with the audiobook and the narrators were incredible, such an amazing experience reading it that way being immersed in the story. I think it made me feel all the more! This was also my first book by this author and definitely not my last! Going back and reading the first two now!

Painfully beautiful
