About this listen

The instant Sunday Times best seller

"An intelligent, thorough rejoinder to an idea that has swept across much of the liberal world seemingly overnight. Even those outraged by Joyce’s positions would benefit from understanding them.... Open conversation about such fraught issues is the only realistic path forward." (Jesse Singal, The New York Times)

"This rigorous and brave book nails the absurd idea that sex is just a 'social construct'." (David Aaronovitch, The Times)

Gender identity ideology is about more than Twitter storms and using the right pronouns. In just 10 years, laws, company policies, school and university curricula, sport, medical protocols, and the media have been reshaped to privilege self-declared gender identity over biological sex.

People are being shamed and silenced for attempting to understand the consequences of redefining "man" and "woman". While compassion for transgender lives is well-intentioned, it is stifling much-needed inquiry into the significance of our bodies.

If we recommit to our liberal values of freedom of belief, freedom of speech, and robust debate, we scan de-escalate this most vicious of culture wars.

Helen explores the roots of the trans cult and shows it for the homophobic, sexist, regressive ideology that it is.

She presents all issues clearly and the book narrated in a way that is so comfortable to listen to.

I urge everyone who cares about gender nonconforming and gay children, and women's rights, to read and share this book.

I thank Helen Joyce for her bravery in standing up to protect women, children and gender nonconforming people, from this harmful gender religion.

Bravely highlighting the danger of trans activism

Everyone should read this book to understand what the issues are around gender self identification and the danger this poses to society and especially women, if it is not done with the pripe safeguards. Well written and read, and perfect as an audio book.

Eye opening - must read for all!

A great book. Well researched and well argued. An important wake up call to counter those who claim that 'no debate' should be the only response to the trans argument and hide behind meaningless mantras to deny the very real threats to women's rights. It's very telling that no audio book company was prepared to take on the recording of this book, no doubt due to a fear of a backlash from trans activists. A common problem for people who disagree with gender ideology. She was forced to record it in the cupboard under the stairs - our very own Harriet Potter!

An important contribution to the debate.

Well argued perspective on the important idea of gender self-identification. Balanced non- ideological way of considering affect on society and its norms. Good starting point for debate.

well argued alternative point of view

I think this book is very well reasoned and is a really important contribution to the debate from the side which has been silenced by authoritarian ideologues, including most mainstream media outlets. This silencing has skewed public perception, thus this book is important.
From my perspective, anyone who values truth, freedom, evidence, high-resolution thinking and skepticism should read this book.
It is not just about transgenderism, this topic is a core battleground for truth, freedom and justice in the western world. So the ramifications are far broader due to the downstream consequences of the generalisation of the gender ideologue mindset.

Really Important
