The story is quite enjoyable. He is called "the mad scientist" because of his peculiar experiments that many don't understand. Until he meets our fmc and feel a deep connection as she is genuinely interested in his work and actually helps him apply it, she has a mind for math and science. The problem is her identity, she's the illegitimate daughter of an Earl but works as a maid and is mistreated by the late earl's wife. He, however, thinks she is the earl's daughter. Things go down hill when he finds out in a rather public way.
