About this listen

Brad Mendoza is an idiot. He knows it, and so does everyone else. A promising naval career down the drain just, because he accidentally killed 504 civilians. So, it's time for him to give up and accept a dead-end command on Persephone, the worst ship in the fleet. Until he meets the beautiful and cunning Jessica Lin, his new executive officer, who harbors a terrible secret of her own. Now, he's in a race to save her and his stupid ship.

But Brad Mendoza is an idiot. We'll just have to hope that he's the lucky kind.

I enjoyed the story of caricatures and the writing of the book was very good by author

The story very good

Brilliant short story, with likeable hero's (and anti hero) despisable villians, easy to follow plot and a perfect way to spend a few hours. will be getting the rest of the set.

brilliant narrative

A good, short story, greatly paced. It's refreshing after 18 hour long books that lead nowhere.
The narrator is great, the sense of humor is as well, however this is not a light-headed topic, gets heavy, that should be mentioned somewhere.

Great paced story

I have tinnitus so I don't mind a book being a bit slow or lacking in originality or ideas as long as it covers the constant ringing.
What I don't like is authors that turn to sexual assault as a means to inject some action into their otherwise boring story.
if I wanted to listen to that kind of thing I'd listen to CSI special victims but I listen to scifi with the expectation that I'm going to be listening to a novel without that as a prominent theme.
Slight spoiler...
nothing happens till chapter 9 then we find out a female officer has been badly assaulted by 2 officers, with videos available for the captain to view .. despite everything else being classified.. he can just download all this stuff ..
I stopped listening at that point.
The book has lots of tags, I find it annoying that there is no mention of sexual violence so we have a more complete view before listening.

lacked imagination
