He'll make sure she never wants to leave....

Holly never thought she'd move back to her hometown, but then something terrible happened. She doesn't know if she can recover. But she knows she can never tell another soul.

People say her neighbour, David, is 'different'. He doesn't go out much, and never after dark. But in David, Holly finds just what she needs: a friend. Someone who's always there.

No-one knows Holly's secret or where she lives. She has left the past behind. She is sure of it. So why does she feel as though she's in terrible danger?

Superbly read, this was my first K. L. Slater book and I found it captivating.

Plenty of twists

Storyline was good, the characters believable and quite intriguing. However, it was quickly obvious that Holly wasn’t pining for lost love but was missing her son.

There were a few situations that were frustrating, and extremely unlikely. What spoiled it for me was the fact that the millionaire couple couldn’t pay for a surrogate without all the nonsense of imprisoning a girl they knew so little about, risking her hurting herself out of desperation, drugging her, etc.

It makes no sense whatsoever as surrogacy would have been so much simpler 🤷🏼‍♀️ that reallyy ‘soured’ things for me, and left me a bit disappointed. I have found most of K.L Slater books quite believable, that is what makes them so interesting. This one however was a bit hard to digest.

Good story, great narration
