Great books but so many mistakes and mispronunciations! Very frustrating to listen to. Also, I agree with another reviewer, questioning the accent of Alec. There needs to be some quality control or direction of the narration.

This is a really good collection of some of Thomas Hardy's best novels. I've only listened to The Mayor of Casterbridge from this collection so far, and it was a very good tale, with many twists to the story. I have previously listened to Far from the Madding Crowd, previously purchased through Audible and that is one of my most favourite novels. I sampled all of the narrators in this collection, and they are all very good. I'm tempted to listen to Far from the Madding Crowd again. A wonderful collection of some of Thomas Hardy's best. I know I will enjoy the rest of the collection. 📚

I’ve only just finished the first of these 6 novels which was ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’. Since it will probably take me years to finish them all I just wanted to say the first one is worth the credit alone. Compelling story narrated by one of the best! Olivia Dowd voices all the characters, including the men, so very, very well that I’ve now searched for all her other titles. She also narrates ‘Tess of the Durbervilles’ so looking forward to that one too.

You can’t go wrong with this deep dive into Hardy!

Wonderful narration of these six novels make re-visiting Thomas Hardy a real treat. The descriptions of Wessex are all the better to have heard rather than read.
