THE EPIC, ACTION-PACKED SEQUEL TO THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI FROM SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR SHANNON CHAKRABORTY

Set sail into the second adventure of Amina al-Sirafi as her quest to track down magical artifacts brings her to the island lair of a sorceress whose woven enchantments are impossible to flee…

Amina al-Sirafi thinks she’s struck gold. Tasked with hunting down magical artifacts for the council of immortal peris, she can savour the occasional adventure on the high seas with her cherished criminal companions while still returning home to raise her beloved daughter.

But when Raksh, the spirit of discord with whom she is reluctantly wed, provokes the council’s wrath, Amina is charged with a seemingly impossible quest: steal a spindle capable of rewriting fate from a mysterious sorceress on an island no one can escape.

Forced to leave her daughter, Amina finds her mission almost immediately thrown into peril. But deadly storms, an erratic poison mistress, and old enemies are the least of her worries. For the peris’ story is unravelling, hinting at a far deadlier game whose rules Amina must swiftly puzzle out. A game that sets her against an adversary more cunning and powerful than she has ever faced.

A game that not everyone on her crew wants her to win.

PRAISE FOR THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI
‘A thrilling, transportive adventure that is everything promised – Chakraborty’s storytelling is fantasy at its best.’
R.F Kuang, the SUNDAY AND NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of BABEL
‘Chakraborty's seafaring adventure is pure incandescence and adrenaline. Readers will leave these pages with their lungs full of ocean air, their fingertips glittered with magic and their hearts a little heavier for being both smitten and heartbroken by its finely drawn, poignant cast of characters. This is a book I will daydream of for years to come’ Roshani Chokshi, NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author of THE GILDED WOLVES
‘Chakraborty delivers again with a captivating story of motherhood, faith, friendship, dangerous magic, and hijinks on the high seas. Amina al-Sirafi is now my favorite pirate captain and I’m on board to follow all her adventures’
Fonda Lee, author of THE GREEN BONE SAGA
‘Chakraborty’s latest unfurls like a scroll of ancient parchment, conjuring realer-than-life monsters, menacing magic, and a heroine with a gnarled, beating heart. An exhilarating, propulsive adventure, stitched from the threads of real history, Amina’s adventures are the reason to read fantasy. I’ll follow this captain and her crew anywhere’
Ava Reid, internationally bestselling author of THE WOLF AND THE WOODSMAN
‘A marvellous and enthralling tale filled with wonders (and horrors), the best of which is Amina herself: witty, conflicted, loyal, ambitious, (mostly) honest, (occasionally) foul-mouthed, and so very relatable as she struggles to save herself, her crew, and the family she loves but so often left behind’
Kate Elliott, author of UNCONQUERABLE SUN and SERVANT MAGE

The main character is just brilliant. I love the stories so much and this one was another feather to the hat.

It took me a little longer to get into this one, but I was soon fully invested. I love the characters, the setting, and the very relatable battle between trying to do better and getting sucked back into old habits.

If you like your fantasy with a great deal of sarcasm, humour, emotion, and friendship, then you can't go wrong with The Tapestry of Fate, which is the second book in the series about Amina, the pirate. Amina is in search of a long-lost Transgression, one of a number of cursed items that she is forced, through agreements with supernatural beings, to retrieve. This one will put her through her paces like nothing else before.

Meantime, she's dealing with:
- a rowdy family who want to move cities
- a daughter who is becoming a teenager
- a demon husband who has become public enemy number one
- her best friend, Dalila, who's the poisoner, who seems to be trying to outrun her past

The mission ahead of them will bring them to grave danger and a mysterious island. This book is not entirely unpredictable, but the journey there is one that I really enjoyed. The characters are so much fun, and I particularly enjoyed the main cast of Dalila and Amina and their encounters with new characters as well as old. The stakes are as high as they've ever been, and with twists and turns and secrets and lies, there is much to enjoy.

A rollicking ride of magic, mystery, and some good old subterfuge.
