About this listen

A man called Milton walks into town…

On the run from his own demons, John Milton treks through the Michigan wilderness into the town of Truth. He’s not looking for trouble, but trouble's looking for him. He finds himself up against a small-town cop who has no idea with whom he is dealing, and no idea how dangerous he is.

But Milton is double crossed and badly injured. Unarmed and alone, he flees into the remote Porcupine Mountains with a posse on his tail. His enemies thought they could hunt him down. That was a mistake and, where Milton is concerned, one mistake is all you get.

From best-selling author Mark Dawson (the John Milton and Beatrix Rose series), The Sword of God is the latest in the acclaimed series of thrillers that audiences love.

reading the John Milton books in order and this is the low point so far.

In previous books the bad guys had some understandable logic to there actions, but the town being controlled by a murderous christofascist militia is just farcical.

I just wanted John to shoot them all in the head and for the book to end.

Hopefully this is just a bump in the road and the next book is better.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interest and was more relateable than the Russian based stories.

The best book yet

Got to Ch 27 where making a fire and emptying a tin of baked beans into a pan were described in excruciating detail was enough for me. I’d persevered hoping it was going to pick up but the beans beat me into boredom submission. Enough was enough. Shame as I’ve listened and loved the previous books but this one? Too much filler and boring.

So slow I gave up
