About this listen

A time traveler’s work is never done.

Likable antiques dealer Joseph Bridgeman is back in the present and dreaming of a quiet life. But when a mysterious and enigmatic time traveler arrives in his shop, Joe learns that his first trip was just the beginning and this time, the rules of the game have changed.

Blackmailed into accepting a new mission, Joe is flung back to 1960s London where he comes face-to-face with a ruthless gangster and witnesses the brutal murder of an innocent woman. Joe knows better than most that death can be reversed and the final chapter is sometimes where the story actually begins. Emotionally involved, he has no choice but to act, and quickly. With the help of Vinny, his vinyl-loving sidekick, Joe once again sets out to change the course of history. Sounds simple enough...but when it comes to time travel, nothing is ever as it seems. Who is the old time traveler working for? And who decides what can and can’t be changed?

In a thrilling twist, Joe discovers that the victim is critically important to the future, and what starts out as a straightforward mission soon becomes a race to unravel a mystery - one that threatens the very timeline he fought so hard to protect. Joe must dig deeper than ever, master his newfound skills, and save the woman before the past catches up with him for good.

Turns out time doesn’t heal after all. It just adds salt.

STOP!! I hope you read this review before embarking on reading/listening to this book if you have not read the first book in the series. Unlike the stories they tell, they need to be read in chronological order, as this second book contains a multitude of spoilers and will certainly spoil any reading of book one afterwards. Right - now I can write my review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was rather slow to begin with but when it picked up, it kept me enthralled and I read it in two days. I'm not as irritated by the American narrator as I was when reading the first book - I guess I just got used to it and accepted it. The author is very clever how he develops the story and obviously has the whole series in mind. I'm now going to buy the next book in the series (the first 2 were freebies!) and start reading it. I'm unsure how the book is going to incorporate the fact that the 'present' time in the book is going to be around February 2021 - the time of the start of the Pandemic in the UK. Maybe Joe can stop it happening, hahaha!!

Another smashing story!

While Ray Porter seems a strange choice for a British character. He is a well established narrator and character distinction is top notch and is so important in audiobooks and he nails it every time. If you like him in this book go check out the books he read for Scott Sigler. (The only reason I’ve found these books is because I really enjoyed Ray’s narration of Scott’s books) in particular Earthcore and Mount Fitzroy

Another brilliant book! Ray Porter is one of my favourite narrators. I was hooked from the start.

Liking this series.
This picks up instantly from the end of book one.
It's good, but have to admit to liking the first book better. This one seemed to drag out a bit and there is very little time travel in it, its more about the characters storyline.
overall, worth a listen and I will get the next one.

Good series
