About this listen

The portal is open, and war demons pour into the world of Dezrel, with every intention of burning the land to ash.

Harruq Tun leads the survivors of the broken kingdom of Neldar, hoping to find safety in the west. But it will take the aid of his wife and friends to hold back the army of his brother, Qurrah, that gives chase.

The dark god Karak nears his total victory and release, and the fate of the world will be decided by Harruq's strength as the vile army of demons, priests, and undead nears.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series so far and this one is no exception and the performance by the narrator is up to his usual high standards too.

One thing I like about this series is the way that while our two leads have had very different paths and goals, you feel like it has been a natural or organic kind of progression for them to both get to where they are now.

With some of the earlier books in the series I have found that my enthusiasm flagged a little in places, but this one did not have that issue even at the beginning, despite the ongoing escalation in the story this one had a better mix of the large-scale action and the more personal level than the previous book and was stronger for having that balance.

Overall, I think that anyone who has enjoyed earlier books in the series will find this one just as good or even better for them than the previous ones.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I really enjoyed this story the action was intense and well written. The characters are likeable with the narrator making each one distinctive making it easy to not get them confused. I have only joined this series from book 3 and I have not felt lost at any point with previous major events mentioned to give context without taking away from the current storyline.

Even though I received this copy to provide a non-biased review I can honestly say that I will be buying the previous books of the series and following the series through to the end.

Great action packed adventure

Absolutely loved the narration, beautifully done each character has there own little twist, harruq and qurrah especially, well done C.j ,all characters have depth and history and detail it’s a world I love getting lost weather it be for faith, magic or swordplay truly awesome,iv recommended it friends of mine and they seem to enjoy a lot we have talked about this series for hours, the Quick pace truly gets you hooked, however it can be extremely dark at times but you can’t have the struggles of light and dark without one or the other ....

Magic is everywhere and it is awesome to behold, humour amongst the carnage and a quest to ruin, who will survive??
