The storm was supposed to pass.

Instead, it stayed.

What begins as a quiet night along the Ohio River turns into something far more dangerous when relentless rain begins to swallow the valley surrounding Huntington, West Virginia. As floodwaters surge beyond their banks and emergency sirens echo through the hills, three college students find themselves stranded with nowhere left to go. Their only refuge is Camden Park—an aging amusement park standing just high enough above the river to escape the rising current.

But the storm refuses to let go.

The park is dark.

The power begins to fail.

And the water keeps rising.

This audiobook gripped me from the very first chapter and never let go. What starts as a familiar storm story quickly becomes a tense, atmospheric survival thriller that feels all too believable. The setting of an abandoned amusement park surrounded by rising floodwaters is brilliantly unsettling, creating a constant sense of danger and isolation.

The three college students are easy to root for, and their fear, determination, and growing desperation feel genuine throughout. As the power fails and the storm intensifies, the tension builds steadily, making it difficult to stop listening.

The narrator does an excellent job of bringing the story to life, capturing both the quiet moments of dread and the fast-paced scenes of suspense. The sound of the storm almost becomes a character in its own right, looming over everything.

If you enjoy survival thrillers, disaster fiction, and stories packed with atmosphere and suspense, this audiobook is well worth your time. A tense, immersive listen that kept me hooked until the very end.

To be honest, it took me a few chapters to really get into this one. It starts off very quiet by the Ohio River, which felt a little too slow for my taste. But man, once that heavy rain starts swallowing the valley, the whole book completely changes. The danger gets real very fast. The second half was so exciting that I finished it in one sitting. It turned out to be a really enjoyable thriller.

I really loved how this story used the rising floodwaters to force the characters into such a high stakes, claustrophobic setting. It felt incredibly grounded, and the way the tension built within that crumbling park kept me hooked the entire time. The focus on the evolving connection between the three students during such a chaotic night made for such a memorable listen. It’s the perfect blend of atmospheric dread and genuine, heartfelt development.
