A great read this was my first book from the railway detective series. Tom and I have the need for series.

I enjoyed the book very much. It transport you to back to the Victorian era where policing was a "thinking man's game"
A must for anyone who loves the "good old fashion murder" genre.
it's well read however a few of the voices did grate on me somewhat, which I found irritating.

Stumbled on this series of books whilst visiting my father in hospital. Interested because of the artwork and synopsis.
A well written book which I suspect sets up a very good series. Well narrated and held my interest until the end.
Well worth a listen and I’ll move to the second book soon.

I love historical fiction and the sense of period and this book was quite good on changes in mid-Victorian England. It also had a plot that was entertaining. However, I didn't find the narration very convincing and at times irritating. The characterisation was poor and at times, distractingly so. I might look at another book in the series but not if it has the same narrator. I'm sure the narrator is a talented actor, I think he's wrongly chosen for this book.

Entertaining enough to make me want to finish
