I usually like this author, but the narration is so bad, I cannot connect. It is like she is reading a list, no attempt to differentiate between characters, no space between paragraphs or chapters. Intriguing story , try reading yourself.

This book is full of enigma, twisted realities and juxtapositions of realities that grab your attention and prevent you from stopping listening. It’s WOW. I’m not sure even now if I love it or hate it, all I know is that it fascinates me.
The things I love about it are: The concepts of alternative reality. The twists in storylines. The juxtaposition of worlds within worlds and the concept of a wider universal reality.

I’ll start by saying I really enjoyed this before I get picky. I’m not sure if this isn’t aimed at Young Adults and if the ideas had gone into an adult novel it could have been even more intriguing

I enjoy Sarah Painter's books. She creates cosy, comfortable supernatural worlds, weaking folktale and superstition into gritty everyday, ordinariness. I do wish the recording artists of some of the books were better advised on pronunciation, though. inIn this book, the mispronunciation of the name Aisling is a big distraction and irritation. Otherwise it's a good story and a good read.

Going to buy the paperback as I am really into the unfolding story but I just cannot get past the narration. I can’t put my finger on it really and tried different speeds but I keep blanking big sections and having to rewind, as it’s so monotone. And I wince every time they say ‘Aisling’ . I’m stopping on chapter 5 and moving to a paperback instead.
