I am a fan of RPG videogame The Witcher and when I found out it is based on this novel, I did not hesitate to read it. it is very good. You meet Geralt of Rivia, a witcher whose job is to kill monsters.
This book is a collection of short stories telling tales of Geralt, his deals with politics ( unwilling but hard to avoid ) and the people who are friends in adventures ( Dandelion) and many lovers. Geralt is a mutated witcher and strange looking, but this only attracts women to him.
This book is for a more mature audience and should be the first one to read to get a glimpse of who the witcher is, but don't stop here. There are others to be read.

Played the Witcher games and this made me fall in love with the Witcher series even more!

I really, really enjoyed this book. I had wanted to read it for some time and when I decided to try Audio books I figured this was a good place to start, and I wasn't disappointed! It was brilliantly read which made the experience all the more enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone who loves high fantasy, elves and witches. It is a character driven plot so there's lots of conversations between the characters, which is why I am glad it was narrated by Peter, I will definitely be choosing more books narrated by him in the future!

I highly recommend that you start with The Last Wish. While it was published later on, it features stories set before the first full-length book and establishes the Continent as a backdrop. It also is more in the time line of the TV series.
Peter Kenny does a good job with the narration providing the voices for the characters and bringing it to life.
