The new Hercule Poirot mystery by Sophie Hannah, follow-up to the bestselling Hercule Poirot’s Silent Night.

New Year's Eve, 1932.

Hercule Poirot and his good friend Inspector Edward Catchpool arrive on the Greek island of Lamperos for a little holiday…or is it?

Catchpool suspects Poirot has a different reason for being there — one he won't reveal. As the clock ticks towards the New Year and a festive guessing game takes a sinister turn, can Poirot stop a murderer who is determined to strike before midnight?

There’s far too much Catchpool over Poirot. I know this was noted by another reviewer and I totally agree. Poirot felt lost in this book.
Storyline was weak.
Had to stick it out to the end but genuinely disappointed.
Narrator was brilliant as usual.

Poirot is fading as the main protagonist

Another great story from Sophie Hannah involving Poirot. Following the tradition of Agatha Christie. Plenty of clues and twists.
I loved it.

Excellent whodunnit.

I feel the same as other reviewers - this was a disappointment. Not much Poirot and a dull storyline. The narration is good but can’t save this book.

Not for me

I am so grateful that we get more Poirot, especially as it is faithful to Agatha Christie's style.

Awesome

The narration was excellent, with good differentiation between characters.
The balance between Poirot and Catchpool was poor though, not enough of Poirot and his little grey cells. The other characters weren’t at all likeable, so I really didn’t care who had murdered whom by the end!
Not the best in the series.

Not enough Poirot until the end, as other reviewers have said.
