I very much enjoyed this story. Forced proximity and second-chance at love tropes are favourites of mine, so this book ticked all the boxes for me. There was humour, passion, drama and some great characters, not least the two who play a part in the laird, Finlay, and his estranged wife, Margaret, being made to spend time together. Their part in it had me laughing out loud a couple of times.

There were many emotional moments in this story, and at times, I was with Finlay in the belief that all hope for a reconciliation was lost. Margaret didn't seem able to, at least, give him a decent hearing. She did, however, acknowledge, if only to herself, how much she missed him and how much she enjoyed the passion they shared between the sheets. Even though they were estranged, they took advantage of their snowed-in time and enjoyed some very steamy bed sport!

Did they have their happy ever after? You will need to read the book to discover that for yourself!

The narrator of the story did a fabulous job. I particularly enjoyed his characterisation of Finlay with his Scottish brogue! He really brings a story to life. Add to that the music and sound snippets and this book is uniquely entertaining. I definitely want to listen to the other books in the series!

An excellently narrated romantic tale. The characters are nicely rounded despite the short nature of the novelette. If you want something fun and light to fill a couple of hours than this is highly recommended

This was a quick and spicy story to listen to. Margaret and Finlay have been married for a year but have spent near all that time apart. It seemed to me that they should have talked things through before they married. There was quite a bit of misunderstandings and Finlay didn’t seem to realise how things looked from Margaret’s point of view. It does have a happy ending, partly through well meaning interference from relatives. The narrator really brought the story to life. He had a good and rich Scottish accent. It made for easy listening. I found this to be an entertaining story.

Very entertaining.

I’ve read the ebook first, but this audiobook was even better. Narrator Gareth J Davies captured this couple’s emotions so well!

It’s another great story in this series of standalone stories, all in which the book “The Lady’s Guide to All Things Useful” plays a part. I loved it!
And I also loved that Margaret is a woman who knows what she wants (and what she doesn’t want) and speaks her mind:
~~Finlay winced. One thing about Margaret: she didn’t mince her words.~~

Will Finley and Margaret be reunited? Read or listen to this book and find out!

~~Whit’s fur ye’ll no go by ye.~~
~~The dream you’re chasing might just be chasing you too.~~

Excellent!
