Another great story from Bentley Little. It seems to flow over to SF rather than just horror which you associate with Bentley's books. It is about several houses on the border of other dimensions. Five people are drawn back to the house where they are born but each of their houses become one. They have been brought back back to strengthen the border between dimensions and cannot escape the house. But, are distracted and seduced by a little girl in a dirty shift who is not what she seems. She wants the border down and to take over the houses. Can the five stop her and gain back their freedom from the clutches of the house?

Gripped to the end. A fab storyline. Gripped till the end. Great plot and ending.

More than a bit raunchy! I had to pause it a lot, to keep my daughter from hearing it!
But, interruptions aside, it was great!
As always, narrated brilliantly. Though I did giggle at the narrator doing a seductive female voice 😂

Ooh err!

From the very positive reviews and after reading the story outline I was looking forwards to listening to another Bentley Little story. Unfortunately ‘The House’ just didn’t deliver and I found myself losing interest even quite early on. And although I did persevere to the end I was left feeling disinterested and very disappointed.

Promising story line that just didn’t deliver

Well narrated and initially engaging, the story itself quickly devolves into dreary, overly long exposition peppered with gratuitous perversion - presumably a clumsy attempt to shock the reader without advancing the narrative. I'll usually read my way through any book to give the story a fair chance, but this pile of mucilagenous dross was too deep for me to wade through all the way to the end.

A shining example of a narrator doing the best they can with the dross they've been handed
