About this listen

A priceless relic lost to history. A woman lost in time. A love that could change both forever. When Eleanor MacLean awakens on a medieval battlefield in 1214, she finds herself stranded in a world of knights, betrayal, and England’s missing crown jewels. Struggling to survive in a brutal age, Eleanor must navigate shifting alliances, her own growing reliance on God, and the dangerous secret of the legendary Hand of Maud—a jewel-encrusted relic that men are willing to kill for. But when she crosses paths with Thomas, a brave and honorable suitor, Eleanor faces an even greater challenge: guarding her heart. Torn between her twenty-first-century life and the magnetic pull of a medieval man who loves her, she must decide if love is worth the risk of never returning home.

The Hand of Maud is a spellbinding blend of time-travel adventure, medieval historical fiction, romance, and Christian themes. Perfect for fans of Diana Gabaldon (Outlander), Lisa T. Bergren (River of Time), and Phillipa Gregory, this story plunges you into a perilous age where the fate of the crown—and Eleanor’s heart—hangs in the balance. If you enjoy Christian historical fiction with romance, suspense, and rich medieval detail, you won’t want to miss this captivating audiobook.

I absolutely loved this story. The story is an inspiring romance and a tale of love that traverses countries, as well as the challenges that various characters face and overcome. I don't want to get into too much of the details because it's just a phenomenal story that is easy to love. It doesn't start slowly; it dives right in from the start, and you won't be left disappointed. It comes alive and feels like you're with Eleanor and Thomas. It’s almost like a movie. The medieval setting is exciting, and the details from the time are exquisite, from the castle to the royalty and the challenges, even the historical implications. It's amazing how everything comes together in the story, yet you don't know exactly what's coming next. You are hooked, wanting to keep listening.

I highly recommend it, and I'm looking forward to more from this author. Thank you for the work that you do.

I absolutely loved The Hand of Maud for its perfect blend of adventure, romance, and faith. The story swept me away to 1214 England, where the medieval setting felt vivid and real, from the tense battles to the intrigue surrounding the missing crown jewels. Eleanor’s journey of faith and courage was inspiring, and I appreciated how her reliance on God was woven naturally into the story rather than feeling forced. It’s a story that lingers long after the last chapter, leaving both excitement and warmth in your heart.

As an avid reader of both historical fiction and time-travel romance (and a huge fan of Outlander!), I can confidently say The Hand of Maud is a stunning, unique find. This book took all the elements I love—a compelling heroine, a dangerous historical setting, and a swoon-worthy romance—and wove in a beautiful, earnest spiritual journey that elevated the entire story.

The premise is instantly gripping: Eleanor MacLean suddenly finds herself on a brutal 13th-century battlefield. Her struggle to survive in 1214 England, dealing with everything from language barriers to the sheer danger of the era, felt incredibly real. The author's research shines through; the medieval detail is rich and immersive, making the world of knights, political intrigue, and the hunt for England's missing crown jewels spring to life. You truly feel the peril surrounding the legendary relic, the Hand of Maud, that everyone is desperate to possess.

But what truly sets this novel apart is the romance between Eleanor and Thomas. Their connection is organic, honourable, and intensely moving. Thomas is the perfect blend of a brave, strong medieval knight and a genuinely kind, devoted man. Watching Eleanor, a modern woman, grapple with her feelings for him while simultaneously clinging to her 21st-century life creates a powerful emotional tension. The author handles the Christian themes with grace and depth; Eleanor's growing reliance on God isn't preachy, but rather a vital and authentic part of her journey to cope with a world she doesn't understand.

If you enjoy the rich historical atmosphere of Philippa Gregory, the exhilarating adventure and time-travel dilemmas of Diana Gabaldon, and a romance with a strong moral and spiritual foundation, this is your next must-read. It’s a captivating blend of action, suspense, and a love that truly feels like it could change history. I listened to the audiobook and found the narration outstanding, completely drawing me into Eleanor's world. Highly, highly recommend! I can't wait for the next book!

I’m a sucker for anything with knights and castles, but The Hand of Maud absolutely floored me with how real the 13th century chaos felt like I could smell the mud and hear the clash of steel. The author doesn’t just drop Eleanor into 1214 and call it a day; every detail, from the weight of chain mail to the politics of barons circling the missing crown jewels, is woven in so tightly that I forgot I was reading fiction. If you love your history served with high-stakes adventure and a heroine who earns every ounce of her courage, grab this one.
