THE BUSINESS TRIP is the gripping, page-turning debut from author Jessie Garcia.

Stephanie and Jasmine have nothing and everything in common. The two women don’t know each other but are on the same plane. Stephanie is on a business trip and Jasmine is fleeing an abusive relationship. After a few days, they text their friends the same exact messages about the same man—the messages becoming stranger and more erratic.

And then the two women vanish. The texts go silent, the red flags go up, and the panic sets in. When Stephanie and Jasmine are each declared missing and in danger, it begs the questions: Who is Trent McCarthy? What did he do to these women— or what did they do to him?

Twist upon twist, layer upon layer, where nothing is as it seems, The Business Trip takes you on a descent into the depths of a mastermind manipulator. But who is playing who?

I really enjoyed this book - the way chapters narrated by different characters. The pace was great and there were some good twists, but the ending was just far too unbelievable, unsatisfying and totally spoiled the book for me.

Finally I can follow an audiobook without getting distracted. I didn’t know multi cast existed but now will always choose based on that. The Business Trip was a gripping take which I’m sure helped!

I loved the mix of POVs in the first half of this book about the disappearance of two women on a trip. It was multi-layered and fun, and I did not want to put it down. It became a little less interesting for me when it changed to a single POV, but it was still a cleverly thought out premise and entertaining. The ending was unexpected, and the book was overall very enjoyable. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrators were fantastic. I look forward to reading more of Jessie Garcia's books. 4.5 stars (rounded up).

Slightly farfetched, but still a good book. Great characters and a good plot. I’ll look out for more from this author.
