About this listen

Washington, London and Peking - terror sweeps the globe. The Vice-Premier of the People's Republic has been brutally murdered by a legendary assassin and everyone is asking the same fearful questions: Why has Bourne come back? Who is paying him? Who is next on his death list? But US officials know the shocking truth: there is no Jason Bourne. There never was. But someone has resurrected the name, and if he is not stopped, the world will pay a devastating price.

Jason Bourne must live again. He must utilise his murderous skills. But this time the will to survive is not enough. This time Bourne must reign supreme...

Critic reviews

A page-turner of non-stop action
Bourne is more mysterious than Bond, more real than Batman and more complex than Bruce Willis
Drive and excitement from first page to last. Robert Ludlum is an ingenious storyteller (Mario Puzo)
The real titan of the genre is Robert Ludlum
Olympic style, all-out espionage
A writer who bests the bestsellers
A killer of a thriller
A new breed of spy - yes, he's highly trained and proficient at killing people, but he's still a normal guy

It's better than the first book, the films are better. It's not like the second film.

Book 2:- narrator cuts the mustard as usual.
Plot:- Bourne gets into many death defying situations, but they were not overcooked. The motivation behind his current situation is once again borne out of manipulation, but with his split personality he thrives on death and destruction as Jason but on humanness as Webb...must be dreadful to be so conflicted.
Rather more swearing in this one, but most of it did reflect the emotion of the moment.

Enjoyed it

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

at times scott brick over-acted but I still enjoy his narration. the story itself didn't help as it didn't seem to be written as well as the 1st in the series. A lot of the story became tedious. If I hear 'C is for Carlos' once more I might scream (sorry)

didn't enjoy as much as the first book

Again a fascinating storyline almost completely obscured by endless dialogues of angst by all characters. I gave up at Ch.27 as this became too tedious to bear, such a shame.

Unnecessarily verbose!!!!

If you haven't read the trilogy you are missing out!! I've read the books 3 times now and I'm still on the edge of my seat whilst reading them, fantastic writing by Ludlum!

Amazing book!!!
