A BRAND NEW spellbinding, dual-timeline historical novel for fans of Alison Weir, Philippa Gregory and Kate Mosse ✨Two women connected across time and a mystery that has spanned centuries...🌹The court of young King Henry VIII seethes with secrets and scandals, but every ambition has its price.

Elizabeth Boleyn, loyal wife to Thomas Boleyn and devoted mother to Anne, Mary and George, believes she can navigate the shifting tides of court life. But when she catches the eye of the lascivious king, Elizabeth is drawn into a perilous game and the cost of her defiance will echo through the generations.

In present day Hampshire, Tabitha Mundy has found a haven in Cerensthorpe Abbey. Since the death of her husband, her work as archivist for the abbey’s owner, Edith Swanne, has been her refuge. When her research uncovers hidden clues rumoured to lead to a lost manuscript of The Canterbury Tales and a connection to the Boleyn family, Edith is eager to investigate. With the help of Gulliver, Edith’s enigmatic nephew, Tabitha begins to decipher the riddles and before long a mystical thread binds Elizabeth and Tabitha across the ages – two women destined to protect the truth.

As Henry’s vengeance consumes Elizabeth, she sets his treachery down in writing, determined her voice will not be silenced. But another man’s secrets mean that Elizabeth’s tale has been hidden. Can Tabitha finally unlock the mysteries of the past or will the Boleyn curse haunt Cerensthorpe Abbey forever…

A spellbinding story of love and heartbreak, loyalty and revenge.

Excellent novel. I love Tudor history, and the Wars of the Roses, Elizabeth Woodville, her daughter, Elizabeth of York who married Henry VII. I knew very little about Elizabeth Howard who was the mother of Anne Boleyn and I very much enjoyed learning more about her history. I think Alexandra Walsh has become one of my favourite authors. I listened to The Catherine Howard conspiracy last year which was free from the Plus Catalogue, I've since purchased the other books in the series and some others of Alexandra's novels, and I'm so looking forward to listening to them. Highly recommend. A great mix of well researched Tudor history and an alternative view point and possibilities. 📖 🤍 👑

We have been told so much about the tudors. From the tudors point of view. This was an absolutely incredible read and to get to know Elizabeth Howard a.k.a. Elizabeth Boleyn, was a treat. Really loved Alexandra Walsh’s take on her life as a courtier, a wife, and a mother

Fascinating alternative

Another great story from my favourite author! I absolutely love that it’s strong women at the centre of historical stories that centre around the men, mirrored with a heroic woman in the modern time. The way the stories of then and now run along side each other is brilliant!
Thank you Alexandra! Also beautifully read!

She has done it again!

I really enjoy listening to AW’s stories. They make me realise how history without facts (and even with) are stories written for the era by people who may have been afraid to write the truth at the time. Questioning everything and retrieving evidence is a key to truly understanding what might have happened. The stories definitely make me ask more questions and think of alternative scenarios. Thank you for this latest hypothetical insight.
