Enjoyable as background noise when you’re cleaning or going for a walk/drive.

The narrator is fantastic as always! And really made the book a lot better than it is.

The writing is okay, good at times which makes it so sad when the author becomes lazy. And by that I mean, writing the characters to make idiotic decisions just to push the storyline along. It becomes very tedious and eye rolling.

It’s okay…

I'll start with the obvious: Goodwin is a super talented author. This story was atmospheric and intense. If you're looking for a book you can devour in a day, this is your next read. A skillfully crafted, explosive thriller.

Creepy, dark and addictive

Really really enjoyed this! I was hooked to it, desperately wanting to keep looking for jobs to do so i could keep listening😊 It has a really great story line, unusual and the description of the scenes had me imagining exactly what every room and outside scene was like. I LOVE when the author and narrator can do that. Katy was as usual OUTSTANDING 💯👏🏽 She is one of my favourite narrator’s 😊 She reads so well and does lots of different characters so easily! I HIGHLY recommend this book💯💯💯 I will look for more from this author for sure! Thank you Sarah Goodwin for an AMAZING story 💯💯👏🏽👏🏽❤️ Thank you Katy Sobey for yet again your OUTSTANDING narration💯💯👏🏽👏🏽❤️ Thank you audible for another WONDERFUL book!💯💯💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️❤️xxxx

A tense and gripping tale, filled with twists and turns. I prefer Sarah’s remote location books personally, but still a great read.

A great book.

At the beginning the narrator delivers lines overly dramatically, and ends sentences very breathily. Seemed to improve as story gets underway. Just something to note if these sounds trigger anyone's misophonia.
Story was interesting in the first quarter way through, but the pace quickly slows down. The writer doesn't build on the characters - I agree with some of the other reviews - you dont end up caring about them as a result. Unrealistic plotlines don't bother me if they're done well, but here it felt lazy rather than intentional. Not a terrible listen by any means, but I won't re-listen or recommend the title to anyone.

A solid 'OK' story
