‘The Betrayals is a beautiful dystopian romance about coming of age as an artist and the love affair artistic collaboration can be, while also being an acute political novel about the fate of spiritual values in a totalitarian system. A rich delight’ Sandra Newman

I absolutely loved The Binding which is what led me to The Betrayals. it was another rich story with dynamic characters and interesting ideas and I did enjoy listening to it. Did I love it as much? Not quite. The ending was a little abrupt and I felt there was a lot left unsaid. Having said that, it is still worth a listen and has a lot to offer.

An interesting and enjoyable book

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Sam Woolf, Sarah Ovens and Bridget Collins.

THE BETRAYALS is beautifully written, poetic, and moving, with a slight ethereal touch, all made so by the great narrations.

Beautifully written

Hard going at times but some real surprises as the story unfolds. The different narrators help to develop the sense of character.

An interesting twist and turn

I read the binding & knew I couldn’t move on from it. If captured me & made me think for weeks afterwards about what next. I’ve never had a book grip me like that so I HAD to download the betrayals to help me move on from the binding.

Well this didn’t disappoint, it takes a few chapters to get into it but once you’re in you can’t get out & im now left wondering what’s next! How do you do that? Is every book going to keep me up at night because they just end and I need to know more! A truly amazing book from start to finish

Another amazing story by Bridget

This is a beautifully crafted book. The characters are human, flawed and engaging. I cared! Really! And each person's story has a perfect circularity and completeness about it. Every sentence, every scene, is like a cog in a clock. One person's view of an event juxtaposed with another's. A happiness. A sadness. A sudden commitment. A revealed betrayal. The book itself exemplifies the "grand jeu" to which it eludes. But... I didn't enjoy this book as I enjoyed the binding. I think for me the plot wasn't strong enough. It was too tied up in the angst of the central characters. I found myself wanting to shake them and tell them just to get on with life and stop navel gazing! At the end, even though the plot is fully resolved, I was somehow disappointed, wanting a fuller resolution. I even wondered if there could be a possible sequel.

Hmmm... Unsure....
