Written by Richard Bass, special education teacher with over a decade of classroom experience and bestselling author of 20+ books on ADHD and neurodivergent support. Over 100,000 families worldwide use his resources.

This book won't claim ADHD is easy, that it's a "superpower," or that willpower fixes everything.

What it WILL do: Show your teen they're not lazy, not stupid, not broken—just different. And with the right understanding, strategies, and support, they can absolutely thrive.

This book, written by Richard Bass, is a deeply empathetic and practical guide designed specifically for teens navigating life with ADHD, as well as the parents supporting them. Rather than treating ADHD as a "broken" brain, Bass frames it as a neurological difference involving the prefrontal cortex, which impacts executive functions like focus, emotional regulation, and impulse control.

Ultimately, the book delivers a powerful message to neurodivergent readers: you aren't lazy or dramatic, and you certainly aren't broken you just need a toolkit that actually works for your brain.

this book is inspiring to kids who suffer from a ADHD and get frustrated. but the narrator is a bit.. well bland is a good word which even I found myself having to really try to focus and not drift off. if there was a bit more enthusiasm and purpose of the delivery of the book it would have received all 5 stars as I did find the book very encouraging.

All the stories follow the same cadence and I think that’s effective in helping the reader see themselves in each story even if they don’t have ADHD. The narrator is easy to understand and makes the listening enjoyable. I think it’s also great that the book offers so many different points of views/solutions; not just pushing medication. Great book for anyone even if they don’t have ADHD.
