Set in a universe where time is a resource–coveted and exploited, the key to power and privilege–comes a dazzlingly inventive sci-fi fantasy romance by a bestselling Irish author.

Margo is on a train to a new boarding school when she slips into another dimension, passing from the height of Irish summer into the chill of an alien winter, from a 24-hour day to one that begins and ends in just six hours. From a stranger on the train–a travelling salesman by the name of Moon–she learns that New Davia is part of a world scarred by uprisings, travel bans, and world sealings. Power is determined by time–who has it, who doesn’t, and who has the freedom to travel between time zones.

Can Margo find a way to get back home–or will she choose to stay in a world where her teenagehood is slipping away faster than ever before, but where she may have found the only person with whom she would choose to spend eternity?

Outstanding

Great story, but audio gets too low in places so you miss parts if there is any background noise.

I am not a reader. In fact, I’ve always been adamant that I hate books. What I now realise is that I just hadn’t found the right one.
Skipshock by Caroline O’Donoghue is genuinely beautiful. I consumed it in two days, constantly willing the workday to end so I could put my headphones on and escape back into the world and its characters. Margo and Moon stayed with me even when I wasn’t listening.
I found this book through my obsession with Operation Mincemeat and Natasha Hodgson, and her narration adds incredible depth and warmth to the story. Her performance makes the characters feel alive and emotionally real in a way that completely pulled me in.
I can’t recommend this enough, whether you listen or read, and I absolutely cannot wait for the next part of Margo and Moon’s story.

The Book That Finally Proved Me Wrong About Books

I loved this - great concept, dazzling details and characters that were likeable and who I rooted for. Chose it on a whim and tore through it - never done so much housework by choice LOL.

Fantastic world building!

Skipshock had me gripped, from reading the blurb to the first chapter I had an eagerness to find out what was happening. The premise of this novel is mind blowing, it's so good. The concept of not only different worlds within the world but different times too, The whole time moving differently etc had me fascinated. The writing had me captivated. I loved how it just played out in my mind as I listened. Margot and Moon were brilliant main characters, I really like how they connected, Margo seemed more laid back than I would have been though and I really thought that was a mature characteristic for a teenager.
The way this novel developed and progressed was engaging and really had me on the edge of my seat, I was eager to know if Margot would get back home to her time. The ending had my flabber truly gasted, My God! is there a book 2?! I need more.

A Brilliant story
