When you husband promises you the world…. then gives you sleepless nights. Set in 1980’s Jamaica. Sister of Sleep is a tense domestic drama that explores the collision of ambition, betrayal and survival in a colonial country house overlooking the bustling town of May Pen in Clarendon.

A seemingly successful couple wrestle with the fractures beneath their polished lives. The glamour of beauty and sheen of wealth mask a hollow marriage, poisoned by infidelity, disappointment and secrets. As friends, lovers and rivals weave in and out of their lives, loyalties are tested and secrets unspool. Each character peels back another layer of pretense, revealing the price of power and the cost of denial.

The looming presence of secrets hovers over it all blurring the line between rest, ruin, memory and forgetting, peace and death. Part Caribbean family saga, part thriller, this audiobook asks what we cling to when the dream of love fades, and how far will we go to keep control when everything begins to slip away.

Gripping story line! i was hooked from the very first chapter and could not put down until the the end

The dialogue is razor-sharp, delivering clever humor that provides perfect comic relief without breaking the tension.

There are so many twists and turns. The plot features brilliant misdirection and shocking reveals that will keep you guessing and second-guessing every character’s motives

A brilliant story, excellent plot, brilliant humour and an excellent why to spend an 1.30hr!

Highly recommend it!

excellent story, plot with good balance of humour

This draws you into the lives of its characters from the very beginning. The story unfolds at a steady pace, gradually revealing family secrets, complex relationships and moments of genuine emotion.

The performances bring warmth and authenticity to the characters, making them feel believable and relatable. There are moments of humour, tension and sadness that keep you listening and wanting to know what happens next.

The Caribbean setting adds richness to the story without overshadowing its universal themes of love, loss, loyalty and forgiveness. Whether you have Caribbean roots or not, the family dynamics and emotional struggles are easy to connect with.

This is an impressive debut production that shows great promise. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to seeing more.

Sister of Sleep is an engaging drama

As a British born, 50-year-old woman of West Indian heritage, I found Sister of Sleep to be an interesting listen. I say this because it gave me (a kind of) insight into a place I strongly identify with… but do not not know.

Although I have Caribbean roots, I have no real knowledge of what life in 1980s May Pen would have been like, so this book allowed me imagine that world in a thoughtful way.

Overall, I think Sister of Sleep is a strong and dramatic piece that causes the listener to think about people’s feelings, choices and the way things are not always what they seem.

Good for those who enjoy emotional stories with tension, secrets and an interesting twist.
