Coyote shape-shifter Mercy Thompson is attacked and abducted in her home territory. Fighting off a crazed werewolf, she manages to escape, only to find herself alone in the heart of Europe, without money, without clothing, and on the run from the clutches of the most powerful vampire in the world.

Unable to contact her pack, Mercy has allies to find and enemies to fight, but first she needs to figure out which is which. Ancient powers stir, and Mercy needs to be at her agile best to avoid causing a war between vampires and werewolves - and between werewolves and werewolves. And in the heart of the ancient city of Prague, old ghosts rise....

i am a fan of these books and i have enjoyed them all so far. this one is different because there is 2 narrators, it is still a great story and well done. but Lorelei King has been the voice of Mercy and bringing in George Newburn didn’t work for me. i didn’t get emotion or feelings from him as you do from Lorelei.

this story was awesome. I only regret that there was so little of Adam and Mercy together.

loved it!!

The story is as always excellent but I didn't like having two narrators. For me Lorelei King on her own would have been better.

Great story

Always enjoy the Mercy Thompson books. Only 4 stars as the split narration grated. Did not enjoy the George Newburn sections, nor did I understand the need for it. Lorelei King is a brilliant narrator, and has always done a fine job. I feel as if the explanation of timings at the start of different sections has been done because the listener can't possibly understand what's going on. I managed with previous books, and I bet every one else did too!

mercy does it again!

A dual viewpoint story - Mercy’s narration of what is happening to her after she is kidnapped and tries to escape and find her way home, voiced by the inimitable Lorelei King; and Adam’s narration of his desperate attempts to locate her, voiced by George Newburn.

The technique works well, and I have enjoyed listening to it (twice, now), just as I have all of this series. George Newburn, though, is not as skilled a performer as Lorelei King, his delivery being a little flat and dispassionate.

Interesting two-hander
