Sharpe’s Tiger is the brilliant beginning of Sharpe’s adventures

India, 1799

The citadel of Seringapatam is under siege. Navigating this dangerous kingdom of bejewelled palaces and poverty, Private Richard Sharpe embarks on a rescue mission to save a senior officer from the clutches of the Tippoo of Mysore – and oust the Sultan from his throne.

The fortress of Mysore is considered impregnable, but one of the greatest threats comes from betrayal within the British ranks. And the man to outwit enemies from both sides is Sharpe . . .

I had enjoyed reading a couple of books from this series prior to listening to this but the narrator really brought something extra to the story. I'll be moving straight on to the next in the series.

Great narration

Would you listen to Sharpe's Tiger: The Siege of Seringapatam, 1799 (The Sharpe Series, Book 1) again? Why?
I would listen to it again because the story is gripping and fast paced.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sharpe's Tiger: The Siege of Seringapatam, 1799 (The Sharpe Series, Book 1)?
So many are memorable moments, but Sharpe going undercover into Saringapatam has to be the highlight.

Which character – as performed by Rupert Farley – was your favourite?
I loved his Sharpe character best. He's got his voice down to perfection.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Although Sergeant Hakeswell is a nasty piece of work, I can't help but like his character. Ok I want to see him dead, but he makes me smile everytime he say's, "Say's so in the scriptures."
A horrible man, but you love to hate him.

Any additional comments?
A great story with great characters.

Gripping from start to end

A sound adventure with which to build characters for further development. Have watched the TV series of course and this is my first go at the books.

A good adventure

Love the Sharpe series I have read the books and wanted to revisit them. The narrator really does the story justice.

If you like the TV series your love the complete saga

I’ve been looking forward to reading this series, but never found the time to. The narration is great and I can imagine Pete Postlethwaite as Hakeswell with the neck twitches and Sean Bean as Sharpe.
Excellent.
