**ONE OF THE GUARDIAN'S 100 BEST BOOKS OF THE 21st CENTURY**

What makes us brilliant? What makes us deadly? What makes us Sapiens?

One of the world's preeminent historians and thinkers, Yuval Noah Harari challenges everything we know about being human.

Earth is 4.5 billion years old. In just a fraction of that time, one species among countless others has conquered it: us.

In this bold and provocative book, Yuval Noah Harari explores who we are, how we got here and where we're going.

Critic reviews

I would recommend Sapiens to anyone who’s interested in the history and future of our species
Interesting and provocative… It gives you a sense of how briefly we’ve been on this Earth
Jaw-dropping from the first word to the last… It may be the best book I’ve ever read
Tackles the biggest questions of history and the modern world… Written in unforgettably vivid language
Startling... It changes the way you look at the world
Sapiens is a starburst of a book, as enjoyable as it is stimulating
One of the best books I’ve read recently… Gives an excellent overview of how our species has developed
Sweeps the cobwebs out of your brain… Radiates power and clarity, making the world strange and new
Sapiens is packed with heretical thinking and surprising facts. This riveting, myth-busting book cannot be summarised in any detail; you will simply have to read it (John Gray)
Here is a simple reason why Sapiens has risen explosively to the ranks of an international best-seller. It tackles the biggest questions of history and of the modern world, and it is written in unforgettably vivid language. You will love it! (Jared Diamond)

Sapiens is easily one of the most thought provoking books I have ever read. It has caused me to doubt the our whole human endeavour while at the same time made me want to be a better person. loved it.

Scares the hell out of me

What did you like most about Sapiens?

Engaging narrative and the themes were spun together very imaginatively.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sapiens?

The narrator brought the whole to life (for me the quality of narrator makes or breaks the audiobook....i have returned 3 previously that I am sure are great reads but are murdered by a poor narrator)

What about Derek Perkins’s performance did you like?

Engaging, never aggravating...no mean trick!

Brilliant!

This book describes in great detail the development of our species from the earliest humans to the present day and beyond. I found it easy to listen to and understand .
There is a wealth of detail and probably needs to be listened to again.
It is clearly narrated but I was hugely irritated by the English accent pronouncing words as by North Americans e.g. Aluminum not aluminium, data ( datta!)not dayta and many other examples. The narrator is English so why use American pronunciation.

A well constructed description of the Species

I don't normally bother with reviews, but feel compelled to say something about the amazing book that is Sapiens. This book will change your entire view of the world we live in. A must read, you won't be disappointed and something you will return to again and again just to make sure you didn't miss anything. Truly brilliant!

interesting, but the concepts aren't really new. the first parts were more developed in the books of Jared Diamond, then light philosophy and very light Sci-fi. if you haven't read The 3rd Chimpanzee, it's probably cheaper than this. Start there...

Jared Diamond and a few extras.
