About this listen

The Complete Series in a single offering

Moments after he hatched, he was thrown into a sack. His pride as a dragon raged against the indignity and he fought back. The wounds he gave his captors earned him the name Nemesis, and the kindness offered at the hand of a half-elf slave earned him a partner. With Harper on his side, the pair set out to earn their freedom. They're determined to never be slaves again.

A spirit beast and a cultivator set out to grow as strong as they can. They'll explore the world around them, make new friends, find allies and enemies in this tale of monster to friend. When Nemesis and Harper are together, they know nothing can stop them... and they're not destined to walk alone.

This story contains unconventional romance, cultivation, and fighting dragons.

This is a solid omnibus, a fascinating world and interesting characters. there are some indicators this is an early book for the author - the pacing is a little off early on and foreshadowing doesn't seem to exist..facts are introduced with a sort of "oh someone mentioned that in our training" and feels like they haven't been set up. there are some errors in editing - people's genders getting mixed up, some minor continuity points in terms of someone's form.

however this is a rollicking cultivation story, showing how the protagonists grow and tackle challenges. having a dragon as the protagonist allows for a more flexible perspective as well, as his mortality and motivations shift. book 2 to 4 the characters feel a bit more consistent as well, as the narrative picks up it's pace. I'd recommend, if only for the well choreographed fight scenes and well done spice as well!!

fast paced and fun, a good opener
