About this listen
Sequel to the best-selling fantasy, Prince of the Ancients, Queen of the Exiled continues Eliana's story. For fans of Fourth Wing, Game of Thrones & C. A. Farran's Songs of the Wicked.
Consumed by rage and plagued by nightmares of events from months before, Eliana has returned to her home of
Meridium. She resumes her duties as heir to the throne, thrust amongst those in court who see her as unworthy. But danger presents itself again when those blessed by the first mages return, and the Hollow resumes its path of chaos across the continent.
Working together again is the last thing she wants, and his
presence reveals temptation like she's never known. Dracho's merging and quest for revenge has changed who he is, and
Eliana must align who she once knew, with the unforgiving beast that now walks amongst her people.
As the unrest grows throughout Ruvalon, the rulers cling to what semblance of peace they have left, and the whisper of war grows stronger with every new bit of information they find. But as tragedy strikes, steeped in shadows and betrayal, Eliana experiences more torment than her worst nightmares could ever have given her.
Can Dracho save her in time? Can he save her from herself? Or will her determination to fight fate ensure their bond will remain ripped apart, dooming Ruvalon for the ages?
Especially when war arrives at her front door...
As soon as I heard this audiobook was put, I had to get it!
The story continues directly after the happenings in the first book, Prince of the Ancients, and it grips you from the very beginning! We get to learn more about the main and the side characters, and I fell in love with all of them all over again. It's not fast-paced, and it's not slow. It is the perfect pace for a story, and I love that!
Listening to the audiobook felt like I was reading it for the first time (yay for audhd and crappy memory? 🤣), while I know what happened, I was still at the edge of my seat as the story progressed.
I honestly don't know how to write a proper review without any spoilers, so here's a list of the tropes in this book:
⚔️ enemies to lovers
⚔️ he's already fallen
⚔️ taking care of injuries
⚔️ who did this to you
⚔️ mental health rep
The tropes are integrated into the story in such a beautiful and organic way that when it's on page, I get a huge grin on my face. I absolutely love angst and hurt/comfort in stories, and this book has them!
What I absolutely love about Amara's narration is that during the POV parts, she puts the emotions of the characters into her voice. I love that! I do stand by my description of her being a graphic audio cast in one person! In addition, the speed she narrates in is simply perfect!
The last few chapters of the book are what you'd expect of fantasy and romantasy. You are THIS close of throwing the book at the wall because of all the tension and action (mind you, the action starts already from the beginning. This book is packed with them 😁).
The ending will leave you wanting more. I'm absolutely looking forward to the next book!
Amazing and captivating!
