Summary

Their marriage is to save a warring kingdom. But in the process, it might destroy them both. Born with forbidden, nature-infused magic in an occupied land, anxious apothecary Meilyr survives by keeping his head down. Until he ends up engaged to invading prince Osian in order to save his brother's life. Now, he is in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse to hide his true self.

When nobles in Osian's court are gruesomely murdered by the same magic that flows through his veins, Meilyr realises someone is seeking revenge for his homeland. As suspicion towards him grows, he and the prince work together to uncover the killer or risk losing the crown – or their lives.

Between court politics, unwieldy magic and a murderer on the loose, Meilyr must keep his wits about him. Especially as his feelings for Osian grow deeper with every passing day…

First 20 minutes I wasn’t sure, but then I was hooked. Pure love and devotion throughout

Beautiful love

This is a completely daft story, but if you don’t fall in love with the two heroes there’s something wrong with you and why were you even listening to it. However, I was hoping for a different ending …. And I doubt book 2 will cheer me up, judging by the title … but I will get it anyway and buy more tissues. It is very Welsh, which only seems to add to the poignancy like so many things Welsh (I live in the Marches, so I can identify with some of the sentiment even when shrouded in unlikely history and much weirdness). It will stay with me, in many threads and some tears.

Lovely, heartbreaking

Very easy listening whilst I go about my chores. 17 chapters in and I realise there is no real storyline thus far. A prince & his male consort in a gentleman’s agreement and a secret code-tapping signal to indicate levels of intimacy. Even then there’s a code without any actual action. It’s got to get better than this but talk about a slow-burner. Now that I have come to a standstill, I’m in fear of falling asleep. The embarrassment of persisting this far into the book stops me calling it dull.

Undecided & what the “apothecary “ (this word used a lot)
