Summary

Pride and Prejudice is a masterpiece of wit and perception, perfectly exposing the mannered social scene of Jane Austen's England. This was an era when young ladies were carefully groomed for matrimony and little else, so Mrs Bennet is eager to see at least some of her five daughters married off. But the various temperaments and spirits of Elizabeth and her sisters, not to mention their precarious social standing, means the quest for love and happiness is not without setback. Meeting snobbery, prejudices, and the likes of Mr Collins, Mr Wickham, and a certain Mr Darcy along the way, the listener too will be swept up in a joyous tide of romance, desire, and satire as relevant and entertaining today as when first published.(P)2003 CSA Telltapes Ltd Classics Witty

A true classic read by the beautiful Joanna

I had not realised that this was an abridged version of the novel and although the narration was excellent, the strength of a story is always lost when you shorten a classic.

Too short

Joanna Lumley and Jane Austen are two of my absolute favourites. It's winning combination. Lovely story, well abridged and excellently performed.

Perfection.

Enjoyed Joanna Lumley narrating this classic..... Just seemed to be over too soon. I dislike being told how many words I must use in a review!!
