Critic reviews

A stunning family tragedy and a hold-your-breath pedal-to-the-metal thriller magically blended by Karin Slaughter’s trademark passion, intensity, and humanity. Certain to be a book of the year. (Lee Child)

OK, a little graphic at times but overall a very good story that had me hooked from start to finish. Looking at other books by Karin Slaughter now as I really enjoyed this one. Very well read as well. The mix of the male and female narrators was very well done.

Loved this story

The best Slaughter tale yet. I also loved Cop Town and Triptych, but this was almost as good as The Millennium Trilogy by Stig Laursen

I could not stop listening to this book, even though I would never normally listen to anything to do with snuff movies. The worst of human beings was brought into this book, certainly out of my bubble of safety. I had to keep listening to make sure everyone was safe and what had happened. Do recommend for excitement and hope because it is fiction some of these people do not exist in the real world, but unfortunately they probably do.

Brilliant

Aren't we odd how much we despise murderers and cannot even fathom how people take true pleasure in seeing others mutilated and yet read such stores with true enjoyment.
Is it our way of saying we would never do something like this and yet know sick people like this exist. Even at the end, I was hoping that Paul would die the way he dreamt of in his nightmares.
The final scene read by the Dad is so well written.

Tough, Gritty Story

you know a story is good when you have to bite your tongue to stop yourself arguing with a character out loud! Great work from Ms Slaughter, and the dual narration really worked well too.
