Narration:

Dani & Ivan; take a bow. The fact that I would have assumed- and said with confidence- that this was a Multi-Cast production had I not known otherwise, speaks for itself. This Duet Style narration was a pleasure to listen to.

The sheer number of characters each narrator had to voice is a testimony to their talent as Voice Actors. Not only were there many characters, each with their own distinctive voice, but there was a wide variety of ages of characters too. Whether the character was young or elderly, the voices perfectly reflected the age of each one.

The intensity with which each scene was performed is a testimony to the dedication both narrators put in to their work. It is evident that they poured their heart & soul into producing the best performance they could give to Phixmery.

Dani & Ivan bring listeners through a complete range of emotions through their performance, ensuring the listener is fully immersed in the story. There were scenes in which I was so engrossed, I had stopped breathing because of the intensity conveyed by the narrators; their tone, inflection, pacing & volume was adjusted to the atmosphere required in each scene, allowing the listener to experience the emotions of that scene along with the characters involved.

I am unsure whether Dani and Ivan recorded in-person together, but this is produced and edited so well, It sounds like it was an in-person recording. I cannot wait to listen to more audiobooks by this duo if this is the standard they are producing.


Story:

From the opening, we are thrown in to a scene gripped with emotion, setting the basis for the events that unfold over the following two decades.

We are gifted wonderful world building that gradually expands as the chapters unfold, along with detailed character descriptions along the way, including magical creatures and beasts. A stand-out personality among the magical creatures is our Raven Familiar, Nero. This witty and fiercely protective soul wants nothing more than to gouge out the eyeballs of any who dares to threaten our FMC Ravena.

As the story develops, the traumatic & impoverished life our FMC has endured comes to light, & we learn of a tragic loss in the lives of the MMCs; a soul wound that could never heal.

Forced to train together at a ruthless war academy, where you either claim a role in a chosen division or die trying, we follow the journey of our MCs as they traverse the daily challenges of surviving each day & avoid becoming dragon fodder.

In this war-torn world where the powerful rule over the weaker masses, secrets are unraveled, hidden identities are revealed & our MCs begin to question their beliefs of the world in which they were raised. A rebellion is brewing against the powers-that-be. The tyranny & abuse of power which has gone unchallenged for years is beginning to crumble, allowing a glimmer of hope for the lesser members of this society to dream of a better life for all.

I cannot wait for the audiobook version of Book 2, especially after that insane cliff-hanger of an ending!
