Perfectionism is a character or personality trait that causes life to feel like a never-ending report card. A perfectionist feels as if they are being forever graded on their accomplishments, appearance, organization, and just about everything else.

This audiobook explores the ways in which perfection can have positive and motivational impacts, like providing the drive to overcome adversity or achieve certain goals. However, it can often become difficult to manage and lead to unhealthy outcomes that can translate quickly into anxiety, relationship challenges, daily struggles, and overall unhappiness.

You’ll learn how to identify perfectionistic tendencies and their triggers as well as how to build self-acceptance and self-esteem. Learning to cope with and manage perfectionism can lead to better relationships with family, coworkers, and most importantly, with yourself.

Case studies, professional advice, practical tips, chapter recaps, and several easy-to-follow mini-lessons are included in order to make this an audiobook that listeners will use as a reference tool for many years to come.

I've noticed a creeping trend both in myself and within our culture over the last few decades with the advent of the internet, social media and automation. I seemingly growing sense of pressure I've not been able to put my finger on but this book sheds a fair bit of light on what it is. We have changed very rapidly from comparing ourselves to the famous, which is not recommended either, but now with apps like Instagram and Tik-tok we now compare our looks and lifestyle (Instagram) and talents (Tik-tok) to other mere mortals assuming what we see is the full reality of their lives when in truth we're only seeing a snapshot. This is know to be causing major depression and angst not just in children but adults too. "Everyone is doing well but me" is what we walk away with. At the same time automation creep at work is making us strive harder and harder in jobs where tasks are slowly being chipped away leaving the need for less staff and a feeling we must be more and more productive if we don't want to get the next redundancy. This book is a reminder to get back to basics. Perfectionism can push you and be a boon, but it can also hinder progress and get you stuck in procrastination. Enjoy the journey not the goal is great advice and the book is a great read!
