I loved this book!!! I downloaded it expecting to be a bit disappointed........time travel/scotland in the 1770's....really!! However, the storyline is thoroughly enjoyable and won't let you turn it off! The narration is extraordinary, you can instantly recognise the vast array of characters!. A word of warning - there are some quite saucy parts, and there are also some quite distressing parts.........I do not recommend having your nan in the car while you're listening to it at certain points, can be a little awkward.

I wish I could give this book 6 out of 5. Truly wonderful. Historical fighting, love, scottish history, passion. I thought it sounded a bit strange from the blurb, and only got it because I wanted a really long book to go away with. I had to get the next installment straight away! I just couldn't wait.

Was recommended this and, as I always enjoy a good long historical read, went for it. Claire Randall is visiting the highlands of Scotland with her husband after the end of the Second World War. She slips through time when out one day and finds herself back in Jacobite Scotland. Pursued by a psychotic English redcoat captain, she is rescued and has to marry, a handsome (of course!) Scot. They have various adventures but fall in love along the way. I was completely engrossed and will move on to Book 2 very shortly.

I usually don't like female narrators because I find the attempts at male voices usually pretty lacking. But wow! Very good narration here!
Only thing is that you can hear background noise of the recording every so often which is distracting (talking, laughing, coughing).

After watching the series, thought I'd delve deeper through the book. At its essence its a love story seen through the eyes of Claire the English lead transported back in time to the 1700's in Scotland. enjoyed it..... however the narrator just doesn't get the male voices right.... Frank sounds like an old man!
