I am somewhat envious of anyone who comes to these books anew (both the St Mary’s and Time Police novels as well as the Smallhope & Pennyroyal book) as they will have the all of them to enjoy. Why does that make me envious? Well, there is the pleasure of hearing the story for the first time naturally, but also not having to wait for the next novel to be published so you can find out what happens next! Thank you Ms Taylor for another enjoyable book, I will exercise my patience until the Xmas story at least !

Too few too long to wait

I am reading again incase I missed a fundamental. For me, there is a huge hole over the Princes in the tower part of the story. She is such a brilliant writer I can’t believe that she has forgotten her previous major story line so I guess it’s me. However, if it is me, it does call in to question why the discrepancies were not more clearly explained. It occupied my mind all the way through, waiting for an explanation that did not appear to come.
Sorry Jodi, I LOVE your books usually, but this one bothered me.

The latest by Jodi Taylor weaves together so many previous threads with grace and beauty. It also answers some questions raised in previous books, and yet we're still wondering how other questions might end.

*spoiler alert*

Callen goes too far, and is confirmed as Treadwell, Max's nemesis from St Mary’s. The beauty of that little scene is the way it shows how much more of his Mother Matthew has in him than you might first believe.

The Princes in The Tower follows a slightly different timeline after Henry Plimpton messes up the timeline in a slight and subtle way. Until things are put right at the perfect moment.

Do they get Henry Plimpton? Oh yes. And he meets a justified end. However, not before he boasts about his financial backer. Who is probably not who you suspect it to be, but that's one of the new questions going forward, because we know how good Jodi Taylor is at weaving in plot twists, therefore we might still have a plot twist or six to come.

Zara Ramm is still the voice of all things Jodi Taylor. We were blessed that not only was she chosen to narrate the first ever book, but that she has been the narrator throughout the St Mary's and Time Police series.

When you get God-Tier writing, with God-Tier narration, the overall book is sublime. This is
