You will need to know some pop culture, to find it funny since the MC often in combat uses different reference like Transformers. So the references are not that nich, but I probably missed some.
When it comes to the spicy stuff, I would say it is pretty tastfull. Will say though that the harem is some what the same build. Author gets around this problem by using different species like elf's and half dryad.
I like that we do not spend the entire three books the same place but actually do some world building of the universe, it is no wheel of time but it ges a pass.
