An interesting and enjoyable lead in book to this series. Not dynamic action but enough to keep my interest throughout. The ending came up quickly but was believable and fitted in with the book being a novella. Looking forward to see how the author develops this theme.

Stevie may have returned home but there have been many changes in the last decade, she is already emotionally raw after her father's death and this case takes her on a rollercoaster of emotions. We see her strength and determination, but she is distracted by secrets, by people acting oddly, by bad memories from LA and by the very sexy new police chief...yum! Zane is a delightful and steamy distraction to have!
An intriguing start to the series, I cannot wait to read more and have already downloaded book 2, I listened to this on Audible with Kindle Unlimited.
