In 100 percent of criminal trials, someone, if not everyone, tells lies.

If it wasn’t for liars, there wouldn’t be trials.

When a defendant swears "to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth", most judges and barristers believe their evidence will be "nothing like the truth".

Who can blame them? During years of exposure to a daily diet of murder and mayhem, lies, and liars, they’ve heard it all before.

In Nothing Like the Truth, Nigel Lithman, QC, provides an entertaining and irreverent insight into life in the criminal courts as barrister, QC, and Crown Court judge. Using his experience in true crime, he mixes tales of horror with humor and questions whether it is possible for defendants to get a fair trial.

very amusing and interesting at the very same time. I've read a few books on the legal profession, and it's one of if not the best

great listen - sense of humour dryer than the base of a dominos pizza

I really enjoyed this, was thinking it may be overly serious given the title. But Nigel Lithman QC made it both interesting and added humour to what could be seen as a dry subject.
Highly recommended.

Interesting and humourous

Great raconteur and absolutely hilarious. Enough detail to qualify as a autobiography but mainly just a collection of amusing tales.

A ponce being poncey. Out of touch and self-indulgent. Couldn't finish. A shame as judges are so integral to our justice system

You can take a lad out of Essex but you can’t take Essex out of this lad. Tired script and laboured delivery.

Essex lad makes good?
