Many people compare depression to an abyss - a never-ending downward spiral of hopelessness. In this heavy, but empowering, follow-up to the best-selling Get Out of Your Head: A Toolkit for Living with and Overcoming Anxiety, author Brian Sachetta takes that comparison literally, bringing listeners on an aquatic adventure, through one of life's most difficult challenges.

On that journey, Sachetta explores the biological, psychological, and social forces behind the affliction, to help listeners understand how it often manifests in their lives. And, most importantly, he provides a beacon of hope to those stranded at sea, or caught in the whirlpool of despair.

It's one mental health voyage you won't want to miss.

This is a great book on navigating your life through depression. I found it to be very well researched and informative. The author speaks from experience on this topic and gives many personal accounts to back up ideas.

I like the way the way metaphors are used to add interest and help the reader connect with the tips and strategies offered, of which there are many.

This is valuable book that will support anyone encountering any negative feelings and can be used as a guide to battling through these feelings with a clear goal in mind.

Depression is something many suffer with, but few give what they suffered from a name. They do so because they don't l want to look weak and they don't believe there is solution to their challenges. This book is must have for everyone who suffers from it depression how to get out of it. I also liked vivid examples and narrator.

Nothing beats an author that sympathises with your pain because he/she himself has gone through the same pain as he can not only speak for you but can truly make you believe that you can help yourself too, after all this is a self-help book. This might sound dramatic but I deeply feel that I was born with depression (of course I don't mean literally but my life happened to raised me into this state of mind). I can be successful, I can be blessed, I can be capable but my mind always leads me to ‘that way of thinking’. I have long loathed myself for being so abnormal which makes me more depressed. Later on, I have accepted that it is my being and that I should learn how to adapt and protect it. This book will help you protect your sanity and even thrive into a self-fulfilled individual despite having this specific vulnerability. Interestingly, I have found a voice that sees the world the same as I do except for one thing, their biggest fear is death.

I’m definitely following the author's future works. And oh, Superb narration.

The author's perspective is truly inspiring.
