Summary

'Haunting, evocative and atmospheric' Charlotte Duckworth

'You won't be able to put this book down' Emily Freud

'An accomplished thriller debut' Vogue US

You let her in. Now she won't let you go.

Sue Keller is lost. When her father dies suddenly, she's orphaned in her mid-twenties, her mother having died long ago. Then Sue meets Annie. It's been twenty years, but Annie could never forget that face. She was Sue's live-in nanny at their big house upstate, and she loved Sue like she was her own.

Craving comfort and connection, Sue is only too eager to welcome Annie back into her life. But as they grow close once more, Sue begins to uncover the truth about Annie's unsettling time in the Keller household all those years ago, and the dark secrets that bind these women together . . .

Split between upstate New York in the nineties and present-day Manhattan, Nanny Dearest is a dark, twisty and dramatic novel of long-hidden secrets and obsession, which will keep readers turning the pages right up to the shocking end.

'Powerful, haunting' Miranda Smith

'A tightly woven thriller' Town & Country US

Critic reviews

Nanny Dearest is Flora Collins's first novel, and it's one to race through, the sense of looming dread growing exponentially as the truth about both Sue and Anneliese starts to seep out . . . If, like me, you were joyfully terrified by The Hand That Rocks You, then this is the thriller for you
If you're in the mood for being consoled by the problems of the rich and spoilt, then this book is for you . . . Collins's smart prose style and good grasp of contemporary issues, as well as a cracking title, mean this debut writer has got off to a promising start
A haunting, evocative and atmospheric tale of family dysfunction that builds to a shocking, unforeseen climax. I'll be thinking about the characters in this book for a long time to come
Nanny Dearest is a thriller about family secrets, and our innate need to belong. Flora's writing is as delicate as it is brutal, deftly observed and smart. You won't be able to put this book down, and the palpable terror of the finale will stay with you for a long time
Nanny Dearest is a powerful debut about the fine line between love and obsession. The final pages are haunting and unsettling
An accomplished thriller debut
A tightly woven thriller
Psychological thrillers fans won't be disappointed
It's a seesaw of rising tension that ultimately delivers a raw, crashing conclusion . . . Collins's debut illustrates the sometimes obsessive and terrifying nature of love and the shattering consequences of its betrayal
Unsettling, compelling, elegantly paced - Flora Collins' debut is a slick, contemporary novel that explores the wispy, nagging memories of childhood, the dark side of relationships, and the unrelenting desire to be loved
Nanny Dearest is an impressive, immersive novel sure to be a big hit. I loved it

Cut into different timelines. A nanny who is dearly love the kid she was looking after .
Quite unique the ending . Abit rush but never expected the ending.
Both of the characters needed help (well of course in reality ) but in this bool you will feel the need of both of them.
It just didn’t end well for the nanny , but she is quite pushy too without explanation.
Suz is more like lost, she lost her parents and needed affection. But it turns out obsession.

Overall for me it was a great story.
Very fast pace .
