About this listen

On New Year’s Eve, Professor Frederick Latham—renowned antiquarian and self-professed treasure hunter—gathers friends and rivals at his ancestral home. At midnight, he promises he will soon reveal the discovery that has defined his life’s work. But before the sun rises on the first day of the new decade, Latham is found dead at the heart of his beloved maze. The only witness: a marble statue of the horned god Cernunnos, looming silently over the body.

With whispers of jealousy, ambition, and betrayal echoing through the professor’s circle, Jason and Daniel are drawn into a case where nothing is as it seems. With few clues and too many suspects, they must untangle a web of secrets before the killer vanishes into the shadows and claims the ultimate prize.

I love the characters in these books and the excellent narrator brings them all to life. A great crime fighting duo.

Another great story.

Great characters, a fresh look at sleuthing companions. Well executed plots and the detail of the early Victoria Police was just right. Hoping for more

Excellent series

I’ve listened to these books twice now. Enjoying them every time. Would love another book, hopefully there’s one in the pipeline.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you.

Easy listen, good plot, and a great depiction of the Victorian era. Although maybe in future we'll see references to key acts of Parliament that were pivotal to starting women's financial independence from their husbands, like the act of 1870. or other key pieces of legislation which massively impacted the society of the time. From book 1, I thought the author did a great job with the characters. I like how they've evolved in their lives through work, tragedy and happy times.. I do hope Daniel gets a chance to cracking some cases in future. He's too undermined in these last books.
The narrator changed after book 10, and I still don't like it. All in all I've really enjoyed the story and I've gone through all 18 books in record time!

Great story.
