A gentle romance begins innocently enough in the stalls of a London theatre where Catherine is enjoying her ninth and Christopher his thirty-sixth visit to the same play. This story about a love between an older woman and a younger man raises issues that are relevant today and although I found the character of the young man rather annoying, I enjoyed the book as a whole. Eleanor Bron is the perfect narrator

Interesting to see how some of the accepted behaviours of the past are now problematic but I really enjoyed the story and the narration was great. Humorous and heartfelt.

This story plunges you straight into a world long gone and much missed. Beautifully written and so beautifully read I will definitely look out for more by this author and narrator

Von Armin writes with a light touch but her treatment of this hackneyed theme is highly original and profound. We are led to understand every character in the clash between propriety and the real challenges of loving someone young enough to be your son. Beautifully narrated by Eleanor Bron.

A wonderful exploration of the meaning of love

Love Love. I felt such frustration with the characters and what they did and thought even though they were a people of their time. It's impossible not to sympathize with them. I'd never heard of the author before (I just listened to Enchanted April). The ending, I think, let's you make up your own mind about "Love" whilst it has whisked you from one view to another during your reading. I wish Elizabeth von Arnim had written more. Beautifully read by Eleanor Bron.
